UPDATE,,, So much for the patients I said I had acquired playing Dark Souls for the last couple years,, ,,,lol,,, so I used the clear chip, powered up the machine and got a 61 error,, I hit the white test button and got the 61-1 error,,,  then turned turned the key once and got a 65-1 error,, I was thinking O MAN, so i pushed and held the white test button for a few seconds and the error disappeared but nothing else happened,,,,, so  not knowing what else to do and I was thinking now I need a new game chip, so i just put a quarter in and I'll be d***med it works!!!! Thats pretty amazing that for about 60 bucks I now have 2 working slots that were free.. Doesn't get much beetter then that... Thanks again for all your help :thank_you:

The 65-1 is a CMOS error.

You will certainly get that if you change from a 1271 game chip to a 731 (new series to old series). Basically the CMOS is formatted differently for the two different versions. The newer chip has more accounting registers etc.

The other time you get this is when your battery dies. With the lack of power the CMOS corrupts.
Its no biggy and I have never had trouble clearing it.

Whats the status of your candle ? if you open the door, close the door it should be flashing until the first game is played.
You should be able to duplicate this on your river gambler.

If you can't afford to lose you can't afford to win.

I haven't messed with candle yet but it's not working so I'm thinking bulbs.. I don't know if you were just explaining to me the difference in chips concerning the 731 and the 1271 but my chip is a 790 and that's what i put back in.. I know one thing without even looking at the PSR's, the Haywire Deluxe is way tighter then the 872 River Gambler.. You'd think with all the wilds and the nudge reels in Haywire it would payout better..

The win percentage is controlled by the SS chip, not the SP chip.

Here is the NLG Game Bible page for the 3 coin Haywire Deluxe game. As the chart shows the SS6417 that you have is the highest payback percentage available (97%). Some people feel that a lower percentage chip actually gets them more wins, although the wins will be for smaller amounts. Not something you want in a casino but for home use it may make the game more fun to play. Notice that in the chart the "Win Freq" gets higher while the "Hit Freq" gets lower for the lower payback percentage chips. So I'm not sure that "feeling" people sometimes have is correct. You could try changing the SS chip to see if that makes it better for you. But that may just be the way that game plays. Slot machine results can be really variable over the short run, and they can be streaky with lots of losses that will make you think it is jinxed.

For comparison, the SS4587 chip you have in the River Gambler machine is a 92% chip. And it has a Hit Freq that is higher than what the Haywire Deluxe machine has.

Yes - I was just mentioning how a 65-1 error came about. I suspect yours was from the dead battery.
