WMS BB2 questions, about to be new owner
« on: September 17, 2018, 12:14:21 PM »
Just wanted to say hi guys! This is my first post here and This forum seems to be pretty cool. I am in the process of buying my first slot ( wms BB 2,0 ) for about 1,400 with  tito and bill  val. I haven't bought it yet. I Don't think it comes with a game installed. Is 1,400 a good price for this slot? They said it was (wms bb2,0) I've never seen a zero in wms naming before. Getting it through American slots out of Miami fl. Any one ever done business with them?
 Thanks guys and Hello!!

Hello and Welcome to NLG!    :waving_flag:

I don't know pricing or model numbers on the WMS BlueBird machines but others here might be able to give comment. The seller may just mean it is a BB2 machine. WMS tends to refer to these machines by whichever cpu or processor unit is installed.

When do you expect your machine to be delivered? If it doesn't have a game installed have you started shopping for any particular game software?  You can ask in the WMS forum area (link below) about what games are popular and which ones to avoid. And there may be folks here that have game software for sale that will work with your machine. So ask any questions you might have. Just click on the blue button near the center of the screen that says "New Topic" to start your own discussion with a question. And there's plenty of other discussions there about BlueBird machines that you can checkout.

Do you have a photo of the machine? If so you can post it here and someone can tell you about it.

Is this it?

http://stores.americanslots.com/products/wms-bluebirds-2-refurbish-bb2-slot-machine.html

If you haven't purchased it yet you may be able to negotiate with them to have the game software of your choice installed. Worth a shot if you are paying their asking price. There is a lot of competition in this business, don't be shy about asking them for some concession.

There's so much to learn. Like fooler boards? do I need them? what is the best software and what are good / fair prices. why do the cf cards have different sizes on them   etc...
soo much to learn

Compact Flash cards are just memory devices. Like small memory boards in a plastic housing to make it easier for people to install and remove. They were used in cameras, computers and other things back in the day. They come in different sizes depending on how much information needs to be stored on them. There are actually little memory chips inside, and they cost something. So the more of the memory chips you have then the larger amount of information the cf card can hold, but that makes the cf card a higher cost to build. So they don't overbuild all of them, some have less memory storage because that is enough storage for some things and it keeps the cost lower. Also, as time goes by the little memory chips inside the cf card were improved and were able to hold larger amounts of information, so cf card companies were able to make them that hold more than they could years earlier but at the same or lower cost. Computer related technology changes and improves all the time and that includes memory storage devices.

When the slot machine company uses a cf card in their machine they select one with a size that is big enough to hold the software that is stored on it. If the software is 200 megabyte in size there's no need to use a 512 mb cf card since a 256 mb cf card will work just fine. But later they may come out with a new game that has a lot more features like lots of sound effects, songs, etc so the software gets larger and then they have to use a cf card that has a larger size to hold all of it.

I think a "fooler board" is a board that attaches by a cable to the main cpu unit in the machine to make it think there is another circuit board or assembly in the machine that isn't actually there. It is a way to run some game software that was written to check for the presence of certain hardware that your machine does not have. Like if a game is developed for a machine that has an upper display that did some graphical animation to make the game more fun, more robust in the casino. But say your basic machine doesn't have that upper display hardware but you want to run the game software anyway. So you need to fool the software into thinking your machine is complete with whatever the software is checking for.

Other types of things are used to fool the main cpu unit on the machine to defeat security aspects of the software. To protect game software from being copied and used on other machines there is sometimes a part called a "dongle" that is used. The dongle is very hard to duplicate, and if it isn't connected to the cpu unit then the software will not run. So you have to be careful about buying game software that requires a dongle, if the dongle is not included the game won't work. In some cases people have come up with ways to get around this with a way to fool the cpu unit software. You can google "dongle" to learn more about what they are for.

Thank you so much for that wonderful explanation! Honestly could not have expected any better to where I actually fully understand what you said. The game I really want to see play on my BB2 is time machine. I saw it on eBay for 120 bucks, it came with a fooler CompactFlash card.  I thought the game would run negatively on the BB 2. And I don’t even know if that’s a license to game where it requires a dongle but will have to see. Thank you again for that explanation! It was fantastic

There are lots of good sellers on ebay, but there are also some skunks, scoundrels and dirtbags.   :garfield:

Since this is all new to you before you buy game software on ebay I'd recommend that you ask here in the WMS Video machines area about the game software you are thinking about buying. The folks that know will tell you if it will run on your machine, if it requires a dongle, if it requires a certain version of Operating System software. You don't want to buy something that won't work. I'm pretty sure there are some WMS games that won't work on certain machines.

You will need to get familiar with your Bluebird machine, what kind of cpu unit it has, what operating system it has and what games are compatible with it. Think of it this way - if you have a Dell computer that has Windows 10 on it you can't go out and buy a great piece of game software for it that was written for an Apple computer. Won't work, not compatible. Not a great analogy but it is something like that.

Lot of cheats on ebay huh....that sucks. i don't want to get ripped off that's for sure. Plus I will prob need help setting up game anyways. any help would be much needed. i'm so green when it comes to this but iv'e been reading the site and it seems the community is a bunch of cool people.

When you get your machine post a message in the WMS Video machines forum area saying what it is, what cpu unit it has, any operating software it has. Post photos, it is easy to do. Then ask about the Time Machine game, if it will run on your machine. You'll get answers. I don't know that game's requirements, it may be that it will run on all BB2 machines no problem. But it's always good to check first before buying. As time goes by you will find out what games the BB2 will run and which ones won't.

As you read thru the discussions in the BB2 forum area (link below) some of this may have already been talked about. So reading thru all of that might be a good way to get prepared while you are waiting on the machine to arrive. I'll bet you can even ask about the Time Machine game software now and begin to find out stuff.

Earlier you said you didn't know or think that your BB2 was going to come with game software. I contacted American Slots and they said all of their BB2 machines come with game software installed and are ready to play when you receive them. So whatever BB2 you order from them will have some game installed. So you might want to see what your game choices are and pick one you like. No use in buying a machine with a game loaded that you won't enjoy. I would also make sure it has a working bill acceptor that will work with the new-design US paper money we have in circulation now. And see if it has ability to accept coins, many players like to use coins.

Hello ,
Wms BB2 slot machines come already game installed inside, ready to work.
Thank you,

Hi there! thanks for checking that out! Yea I will be ordering next week and I needed to see what it comes with...I know there is no coin (cashless) tito machine. I like that, less noise I need to make sure it has the OLED button deck that's dynamic not static. I need to make bill acceptor has latest firmware to take newest bills and make sure bill acceptor takes tickets and cash and tito printer works good and they give me some tickets.

Without knowing the particulars it is hard to judge if the complaint is valid. My guess is a lot of good companies have a few complaints. People often have unrealistic expectations and when they aren't met they complain. Not saying one way or the other on this particular complaint, just that some people will whine about anything before trying to work out the problem with a company.

That's true but what's weird it the buyer "wired" the money. That's not good. But this guy is selling bb2 for 1400. That price is great wile others are at 1600 +. I'm not sure if it's too good to be true or am I getting a hot mess.

I just want a bb2 with time machine on it that works good. lcd's are not burnt oled button board are good. I looked in this boards classifieds but I found nothing. so I've been looking around at different sits around the country. Since I'm in Florida that Miami site looked good for price and shipping charges would be reasonable.

Did you check with them to see if they have or can get the Time Machine game for you? I'd see what they can do, might be a lot easier for them to find that game software and get it running in a machine than it will be for you.

According to this (below) you won't be able to run the Time Machine game on a standard BB2 machine without having the extra hardware (fooler board).

That's correct need a fooler board but I think american slot is a wholesaler so they prob clean them up and ship to Asian markets. I will ask though. They prob won't give me a ram clear cf card ether. But there on ebay for 20 so no biggie. I won't be buying till the end of next week. (That's when I get paid) so I don't want to bother them till I'm ready to buy. But i will ask about that game.
