The power supply you got from me worked perfectly.
You have a short on one of the boards in your stack.
While watching the 5V output of the power supply remove straps one at a time from one board at a time, see which board, when removed brings the 5V back up.
I would suspect a shorted bypass cap or a IC in backwards.

I removed all of the straps one at a time as you suggested, it made no difference. The only way the power comes back up is by removing the large connector on the right-hand side of board #2. I assume that means the problem is somewhere in that board. As far as an IC being in backwards, that doesn't make sense because the machine was playing fine until it died. I did check them however, and all are oriented correctly. I had replaced the (4) caps located on the corners of the board after this issue occurred, obviously it didn't help. (Yes, they are oriented correctly, as far as +/- goes). I also tried doing the same thing with a second board stack that I have, and it responds the same way.

Take some time and compare all of the connections on your power supply against the connections on the one I sent you.
You purchased a V2000 3 card rack power supply from me but you have a V1000 4 card rack.
Make sure mine is compatible.

I always thought that the V-Series PS were universal between the V1000 and V2000 models, just like the way they are between the E1000 slot machine and the E2000 models?

That is my presumption also, I have never seen an entire V1000 setup.
Larry and I had piles of V1000 boards but after years of storing them, and never having a use for them, we stripped all of the socketed parts off of them and tossed the boards.
I have only seen one kind of power supply for the V1000/V2000 systems but am wondering if there was some jumper option on it to accommodate the system differences.

I remember when you told my what Larry did with those board stacks, I wanted to cry 🤨.. I would have bought a few board stacks if I had known.

Well, I looked over the boards as suggested, and I see no difference between the two. It becomes a moot point anyway. I decided to re-install my original power supply to test whether the power comes up with the large black connector on the right side disconnected from the board stack. It does. So, apparently the problem is NOT in the power supply as someone had suggested initially when I first posted my problem a couple of years ago. That's what led me down the path of believing the power supply is bad. I posted pics of the two power supplies next to each other for your reference. So now I have (2) dead machines.......and a spare power supply. Ha!
Just as an aside, the white sticker on my power supply has V-1337-1-91 on it. The K-Lar supply has V-1292-1-127 on it. I'm no expert, but that would suggest to me that both these supplies are from V1000's. Both have the AS-3088-1 on the board. Just posting this info in light of your discussion of whether or not there is a difference between V1000 & V2000 supplies & you saying the K-Lar supply was from a V2000.
