IGT S Double Diamond Turns on no codes
« on: October 14, 2019, 05:24:57 PM »
Picked up 1987 Double Diamond S Slot machine. The battery was dead so i replaced it. The machine powers up but does not give any codes or cycle the wheels. Any suggestions on where to start?

The most obvious would be the fuses.
I am sure you checked that

The fuses are all good.

Generally speaking if the reels don't spin after the door is closed then the machine thinks the door is open.
Likely the door optics - First check if they are aligned, next use a digital camera to see if the emitter is blinking (you can't see it with the naked eye but a digital camera / cell camera can).

You can also simulate a coin in by pressing the micro switch on the coin optics - when you do this and press spin do the wheels spin ?
This of course works only when the door is open.

All S+ have door optics.
If they are missing that would be the source of your problem.
They look simply like two black connectors - one mounted on the Chassis and the other on the door.

Here is a picture of what they look like.

Here is a Youtube Video by one of our members (Mark) Stayoutof the Bunker that shows you how to do a test to see if they are working.

In my last post I mentioned that if you use the micro switch on the coin optics to put a test credit on the machine - it only works with the door open.
What I should have added is that if you close the door and the test credit still works then you know the door optics are not working.

Sorry I missed that. I just looked at the pictures of the boards and it is a S not a S+
I have 0 insight into a S (Sorry)

Is there perhaps a manual door plunger ?

when the machine is on, are the reels hard to spin by hand  or are they free wheeling?  if they are free wheeling then you are not getting the voltage to hold them in place. if the fuses are good , check the fuse caps, sometimes the springs get weak or get lost, your door open/closed signal is a cherry switch located on the left side.

is  the RS chip in the right position ?
