IGT S+ MPU Problem Lifting it out.
« on: August 06, 2020, 05:40:14 PM »
I can't lift the MPU board up and out, it's like it's stuck. I'm pretty strong but this gets me, is there a lock or screw on some of these? I have never encountered this problem before. Thanks for your help.

Have u ever had it open before?
Something could have spilled and stuck them together maby?
It will have to separate
Try pushing down on the motherboard and lifting Up on the CPU

Thanks for the replies, No I never had the MPU out. I'll look again and see if there's a lock on it.

look for a screw at the very bottom on the outside of the enclosure,  take it out and you should be able to lift it out.

No screws found, for the life of me I can't get this out. I have several of these IGT S+ and never encountered this. I can't lift it out, it's like somethings holding it but I cannot find what it is. Thanks for the help, if you encountered this what did you do or what would you do?

Grab that black knob and JERK! it up with both hands.
Once out check the edges of the metal tray holding the board.
The soft aluminum of the tray edges tend to deform.

Flatten them out with a metal file before reinserting the tray.

Thanks for the suggestions. Man I've tried everything, just can't get it to come up. I think it's stuck on the guide (as pictured), because it rocks side ways when trying to lift it out. Maybe I could drill the screw out of the guide .

It's hard to tell from the photo but is that corrosion at the right bottom of the tray beneath the transformer ? Maybe there was a spill.

A battery acid spray? Looks like the tray has been eaten away near the transformer.
Don't drill out the screw! Use a crow bar on the black knob and some leverage to pry the board out.

Pry the lower edge of the case loose with a flat blade screwdriver. And maybe the sides also

Thanks for all the help. I finally got it off this morning. The battery had dropped off on the right corner causing it to corrode causing it to stick to the black guide. Luckily the plastic piece on top of the motherboard may have saved it from battery damage, just got to take it apart now. I was able to do this by taking a small wood chisel and placing it under the left corner of the MPU and it came right up with a little bit of muscle.. Everyone who responded was a great help and I cannot thank you enough. :thank_you:
