Uhh...I've never seen an S model in a round top cabinet. I'm leaning toward very early S+ myself, but we'd really need to see the board inside to be 100% sure.


If you could, open the door, and crouch down a bit and snap us a pic of the contents. IGT overlapped a lot of things, so if a member has a game that is close to the start or the end of a model era, the only way to tell for sure is the MPU board.  :yes:

It's an s+, I don't think double diamond Deluxe was around in the days of the S.  But like Roz says, a look at the mpu board will confirm for sure.

I vote for S+ as well.  I don't think S models supported nudge games like Double Diamond Deluxe

Thanks guys...I was leaning towards thinking its an S model due to the layout of the LED display, no bill validator.  It's for sale locally (well not that local) for around $600.  Thing is, I would like a machine with the bill validator and if this one cannot be modified then I am going to pass.

The lack of bill validator cannot be used exclusively in determination of a machine's model. The early S+ (S-PLUS) machines did not have validators. One real giveaway would be the MPu board. On an S model (not S-Plus), the MPU board is harnessed in to the motherboard. On S-Plus models, the MPU is connected to the motherboard via molex plugs.

It is an S-Plus model from around 1993.  It was about 1993 they came out with the round top.  B/V's started getting popular in 1994.  Willing to bet the tag on the side will indicate late 1992 to late 1993.

Depends on your location and the condition of the machine. For the seller, regardless of location, $600 is a good price. It's either a bit high or pretty high depending on where you're at. Compare it to similar machines for sale in your area and shop around or negotiate as you see fit. Finding a cheaper one that would need to be shipped is a deal killer. They're easily over $200 to ship

I'm in NY, I rarely find anything that's worth picking up for less then $700.

I am in the market for a slot (Double Diamond Deluxe) for my wife as it's her favorite game since before we were married.  It would be a nice addition to the "game room" which currently has a custom made Three Card Poker table with Shufflemaster ACE (plus a Let it Ride felt that can be swapped in), Ms. Pac-Man cocktail (original), MAME cabinet, and a Japanese Pachislo.

Wow, those shufflers are hard to find outside of a casino environment.

I'd lean towards an early S+ as well.  If it is, it would be possible to add a side-mount bill validator with minimal hassle.  We'd have to see how the MPU board connects to the machine to be sure.

Yeah...the ACE I picked up on Ebay a few months ago.  Some guy sold about 10 of them over the course of a few weeks.  By the time I bid on one if his last auctions, nobody was bidding at all.  Got it for $350, which is pretty good considering the others went for around $550 or so.  It's loaded with all the different Shuffle Master games....pretty cool.

So...what is my best bet on getting a DD Deluxe machine?  Ebay?  Dealer?  Obviously local sale would be nice but as I said, very few available around here.

the machine has to be a S+ model,  the S model DID NOT support any nudge type games.
