Have 5 S+ units that were projects.....never ran hoppers.......set up with 5_2 to pay credits only & disconnected cash out function......all work great......NOW would like to use hoppers for cash out only situation.......plugged in hopper, hit cash out with 170 credits on quarter machine and it went to 3300 error.........plenty of quarters in hopper. If leave front cash tray off I can see an arm on hopper motor back side by coil & armature activate and can hear hum but after few seconds error triggered.....open/close door, goes thru startup , then hums & error.....no stuck coins...wheel never turns......bucket has 400 qrtrs ........directions?

Pull the hopper out and dump all the quarters out. Check for jammed coins under the knife and even under the shelf wheel. If all looks clear, hold the brake down by hand and spinning it by hand. It should spin freely.

Back of hopper is a square motor. On side of motor is a white plastic tab. Hold the white tab down (towards the motor) with one hand, while spinning the hopper wheel with the other hand. It should spin forward and backwards freely.

Not much white plastic on hoppers...you'll find it!

I bet you find a dime stuck not allowing the hopper to move. You will want to turn the motor so the reel shelf goes backwards. You may have to remove the knife. Also sometimes the rubber star agitator melts and get's everything stuck.

Only moveable part I find is attached pic.....it is a spring loaded piece

When you are looking at the motor shaft it will be around it. pushing the spring loaded lock will allow you to turn the motor shaft. Did you try a different hopper? If you get one that moves easily you will understand better. Sorry I don't have a picture for you.

ok got it.........pressed the tab, no wheel movement, feels locked.......have a new motor I bought several months ago......when I press that tab I can turn the wheel shaft, release it and it brakes or locks........so I understand the what, where & how........now I need to find out the why......dont visibly see anything wrong with this hopper but reckon I need to dig in & do some exploratory with the idea that I am looking for obstructions but with the plan that I am switching out the motor

Problem Solved..........took it all apart, no obstructions, cleaned, replaced motor assy, reassembled, works like it should !!!! Thanks for all the help, as usual !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats. S+ is really a work horse. First locked up motor I have known of. Always a dime, penny or a screw. People throw their pocket change in. Went on a call for a bill validator not working and found it was stuffed with tokens by the kids. The lady was mad at me until I turned it over and dumped the tokens. The look on her face was worth to lip I was hearing.
