IGT 3902 software change
« on: April 24, 2021, 11:42:16 AM »
Looking to change software on a IGT 3902 board. Wanting to change to a different game.  Concept seems relatively simple but again I've never done it before so rather be certain before I go doing what seems like the obvious thing to do and screw something up.

There is a very easy way to return from a casino with a small fortune; go there with a large one.

I'm not sure I understand the question,
Do you have a machine with the 3902 board and you just want different games then you have now?OrDo you want to put something on the machine you know is only available on 6.+?
If you have a 3902 you stay below version 6.0 it's both simple and pretty affordable. If you want something that is only available with 6.0+ then it gets more complicated (still pretty easy) however, it gets significantly more expensive because you would need to change your MB etc. What exactly are you looking to do and which version is on your machine now?
Since you changed your post it now appears you have a 3902 board and you want different games? You still need  to answer the question (if you want the correct answer) : What version do you have and what version do you wish to change to? Even if you don't need to change MB's you might need additional hardware (sound etc).

This is probably the best breakdown of the software installation provided by Tilt:http://newlifegames.com/nlg/index.php?topic=262.msg724#msg724It also might depend on what Version software you will be coming from and going to. Because of things like Stereo sound etc.

Ok so when I got the new 3902 board I noticed my old board has what I guess the simms card maybe? where as the board I received has two chips underneath (CG1,CG2) and two chips on the multimedia board(SND1,SND2). My old board just had the card that went into the slot underneath the multimedia board and the card in the slot on the multimedia board. No chips or at least that's what I call them. There's also one more card that's on the other side of my old board that I'm not sure if I need to place in the new board.

I've changed both game chips, both pixel chips, base chip, and use the key 40 chip to clear ram and set machine up. I get and error after clearing telling me I have a bad CG Rom. Well that's the 2nd error. The first one said I had bad PXL but I cleared again and that went away. So just wondering what's causing the errors and If I've replaced everything properly.

Pxl roms 3 & 4 are in wrong sockets- reverse them.  Try reseating the cg's, make sure cg1 and 2 are in correct sockets. (can't read them)

Ok fixed the Pxl roms. Same error on the Cg. Made sure they were correct and reseated them. Looks like I'll need to get new CG1 and CG2 chips. Where can I find?

Okey dokey........made it this far.........Tells me main battery low. This is not like the 044 board where the battery is removable, this one looks soldered onto the board :EmoticonHelp4: . I'm not sure what options need to be verified......Thought I did all that in the keychip menu :Scratch-Head:

You'll need to replace the soldered on battery.  My advise it to get a CR2354 battery and holder.  You can forget about the battery for several years if you do.
