As long as it is a 3.4 to 3.6 volt battery and it physically fits on the board ok then any battery will work. The one in your photo is a 2/3 AA size battery, meaning it is 1/3 shorter in length than a standard AA battery. The lithium type of batteries are longer lasting than alkaline types.

The larger the milliamp/hr rating the longer the battery will last when power is turned off on the machine. That is the amount of energy stored in the battery, but all the mpu cares about is the voltage level (3.4-3.6 volts). The ones with a higher milliamp/hr rating are stronger batteries and will last longer. So I'd tend to get one that has the highest milliamp/hr rating, with a reasonable price. But if you leave your machine off for a year or two just about any battery will die.

It is similar to the CCA (cold cranking amps) rating that is used on car/truck batteries. They are all 12 volt vehicle batteries but the higher the CCA rating the stronger the battery and the longer they should last.
