Bally 809 not taking coin
« on: March 30, 2019, 11:46:50 AM »
I have a Bally 809 I think a 3 line multiplyer.
It does not accept a coin.
If I ground the coin lockout coil in picture 1 it energizes and access the coin and the handle unlocks
In picture 2 it shows a 8200 ohm resistor in the H hopper, it shows a R reel bundle in other wiring diagrams.
Does any one know where it really is?
Does it matter if I even look for it ?
Should I be concentrating on the wiring through the jackpot lock up relay switch  number 1&2 and through that route?
I can't post pictures my files are to large.

Use a simple resize program such as this.
http://www.bricelam.net/ImageResizer/
Or if you're using a phone, just change the settings to lower resolution, but NOT lowest.

Did you have pictures posted? If you post off sight they tend to vanish. If you post them here they won’t.

H stands for hopper, R is for reels, and D is for door.. You don’t alway see the resistors on the door at the coin switch. They tend to get removed. The main reason they are on the coin switch is to control sparking on the contacts of the switch..

If I understand you correct if the resistor is missing it should still work .
The resistor is just like a capacitor in a distributor to extend points life.
If those two statements are true I need to look a the other contacts correct?

When working on these EM slots, the first thing I do is to clean and check each set of contacts with my meter to make sure they are working correctly. Just looking at them to see if they are making contact is not enough. They are a solid silver contact and silver will tarnish. Never use a course file or sand paper on them. Folded paper and rubbing alcohol works, as does a super fine wet/dry sand paper 600 grit or higher. Then do the same to the hooper and reels plugs to the cabinet. Those also tarnish and loose there connections. These are things I always do first to a new project.
