Bally dolllar hopper star / payout not moving
« on: December 01, 2021, 06:19:11 PM »
I bought a new hopper star because the one in the machine had melted into black goo. When I took the old one out there were three screws, two of which were short and one which was long. Is the long screw supposed to be there and if so in what location? It seems like the hopper does not want to turn now…

One screw is longer. The motor pushes against the longer screw to turn the pinwheel and shelf wheel. Did you press the plate on top of the motor to release the motor gear? If you do you should be able to spin the pinwheel either direction and feel when the longer screw contacts the motor. You can also do a hopper test by pressing the red test button 4 times. Chances are your piston cup is black goo as well. Good luck!

see 5000 manual diagram below.

iir (start worrying), the idea is to have the peg sticking out of the motor shaft between the bushing (66) and the long screw (64) so the pinwheel/shelf can't spin freely in either direction.

however, if you get the screw in the wrong place, the pinwheel should eventually turn when the motor peg hits the bushing or the screw.  It just won't stop immediately when the motor power is turned off.

anything else change?  Overtightening the bearing screws (34) can bind up the bearing.
