Battery Replacement Problem
« on: December 21, 2017, 08:58:52 PM »
I turned on my Top Dollar machine and got a low battery message. My 1270 board has a coin type battery holder with a CR2032 battery. The green battery was removed some time ago. I replaced the battery with a new one of same type, then turned on the machine. The machine now has a "Call Attendant" message and I can't clear reset it. I'm not sure what to do. When I lift the latch to open the door the machine lets out a deafening alarm and displays "Ram Error". When I close the door and it returns to "Call Attendant". How can I get this machine back up and running again ?

I noticed that in changing the battery it appears the holder is too big for this size coin battery. There was a copper coin beneath the battery serving as a spacer. I left the coin in like it was and inserted the new battery. I'm not sure what to make of this. Is this the wrong size holder or the wrong battery ??

Leave the door open and turn the jackpot reset key and keep turning it on and off until you are instructed to "push the white test button on the computer tray" on the door display.
Close the door, get another error about EEPROM open door, turn jackpot reset on and off until push white button again.
Close door and game will come up.

A penny is not a good conductor, you should buy a larger battery or change the holder to one that will take a CR2032.
Let them that don't want any, have memories of not getting any.

The correct battery for a 1270 board is a CR2354

I followed your instructions and am up and running. Looks like I will have to go through the menu and reset all my preferences though, but this is no problem.

Do you have any idea what size battery will fit this holder ? I would rather change the battery type then change holders.

Thanks !!!!

The 2354 Battery will fit that battery holder.. They last longer then a 2032 too.. I use the 2354 on all my boards..

Thanks for the information. I'll get a CR2354 battery.

That coin worries me. Looks like it could short out if it slides far enough to touch the side of the coin holder.

You will have to go through the same procedure when you change to the new battery.

Thank you!!!  I just picked up a Triple Double Diamond that had this same problem (RAM ERROR).  The old owner gave me procedures to use chips to fix it, but I was doing a lot of research before trying something like that because it seemed pretty severe after a dead battery.  Your post helped me get it up and running.  So now I’m a newb with a working slot machine!  Took a while to find the right advice, but I’m glad I kept reading.
