Have you contacted Alan at K-Lar in Las Vegas. He can repair/rebuild your power supply. You can find KLar on the home page.

Yes, I have. He was of no assistance. Here is his response to me:

On those old power supplies the 5V fails because there is a dual diode in a heat sink that fails, you can't find a replacement.
I have a couple of cases of those supplies in unknown condition, best case I could send you a couple to scavenge parts from.
I sell them for $65 each and of course that price covers shipping also.
How many dozen do you want?

Alan

From what I understand is that he doesn’t have any circuit boards stacks to put in his tester to check the condition of the PS. You can’t just put the PS by it’s self. I didn’t understand this till now by sending him an email. He has a couple crates of these and no way to test them. They may work fine.

Thanks, but MAY is a big three letter word in this case. I'm not even sure the power supply IS the problem. Just going by what he says. I need to have a known working power supply to move forward here. I'm no expert when it comes to diagnosis of electrical problems. I have (2) of these V1000 machines, one is complete, the other is a parts machine. Both have the (4) board stacks. If I can't find a power supply, I'll probably parts out the machines. I hate to do that. The one machine is in really nice condition, and was fun to play when it worked.

I tried to repair a V1000 about a year back. It had a bad board in the stack. The ps was working. Not sure if that guy still has it or pitched it? All I can do it ask.

I'd be willing to trade the board out of my parts machine plus a reasonable cash payment for his working power supply. Can't guarantee anything as to the condition of the board though.

Did you check the for burnt connectors on the larger plug on the right side of the board stack?

No burnt connectors. Problem is, I'm only getting 0.2v at 5v test terminal on power supply board (same as my old board). If board from K-Lar is good, should I not be getting 5v? (12v terminal tests good on both old and replacement board).

If you get the same voltages on both PS, then my guess is that you have a short somewhere in the machine? You might try unplugging one thing at a time like the monitor to see if that voltage changes. Something somewhere is pulling it down.

It's not the monitor. Disconnected that, no change. However, when I disconnect the large plug on the right side of the stack, the power comes up. I'm assuming that means the problem is in the board(s). But where?

If I remember correctly there is a small board that connects the board stack on the front. Make sure it’s plugged in tight. I have had bad crimp connectors in that large plug. What style plug does your have? One type has a removable back on the plug. This style sucks. The other is a long white solid molex plug about 20 pins long. These are what I use. If you have the first style, you might want to try pushing the wires down into the connector.

Connector has the removable cover on back. I removed the cover, pushed the wires down, and checked continuity between wires on connector & corresponding terminal on board. All check good. Board on front plugged in tight, all connections clean. No change.

Sound like you have the same common problem with these V1000 boards that no one can seem to fix.

Yes, I have two of these boat anchors. One of the machines was working perfectly when I got them. The other had issues. Tried getting the 2nd one going, but it got progressively worse, finally fading away the same way the "good" machine eventually did. I posted on NLG looking for help a couple of years ago (http://newlifegames.com/nlg/index.php?topic=14592.0).  I wound up using the non-working machine for parts over the years. I tried the 4-board stack from the parts machine and it does the same thing, no boot-up, just a green screen. Pulls down the voltage too.
