How to clear a reel tilt & a bill validator tilt on my AVP
« on: February 06, 2019, 10:24:28 AM »
Got this game several months back & it played fine for about a month or so & then started getting reel tilts so I shut it down until now. Now it's also giving me a bill validator tilt, when I take it out & put it back in, it just cycles. I've opened & closed the door twice to try to clear them but nothing changed. Any advice on where I can start? Could it have something to do with the dip switch settings on the front of the bill validator? Thanks

Sounds like you have a JCM UBA for a DBA. Remove the head (blue box) and lift the mech cover. Make sure ALL the windows and vain (Pass-through) sensors are clean on it. Nicotine can "fog" them up and make them erratic. Dust Bunnies block them too, etc.

Your Reel Tilt may also be a dirty Opto on the wheel. Does the error give a Reel Number??  If you keep getting #1 Reel Tilt, swap it with reel 3 and see if the problem follows it. If it does, remove the wheel and clean the Optical sensor with a Q-Tip and alcohol.

Also, go into Diagnostics and check your Battery Voltages. If any batteries (or power supply output) are below 2.90 VDC, change them. You have one battery on the main MPU board and 2 on the I/O card.

Hope this helps....

I cleaned the inside of the bill acceptor, when I put it back in, it just cycled continuously for about 20 seconds then it stopped & the red LED is flashing on the front of the bill acceptor. How do I get into the diagnostics menu to check the battery voltages?

You need another BV.  Based on the data you give on all the diff. games you change things in your posts. Slide a known working bv in, clear the codes by following the promts and see what happens.  Yes,  UBA's can be repaired,  There is also a calibration paper for these that I HAD but someone evidentally took it that can correct some issues which I could use another calibration ticket/paper as well.

Don't know what you're talking about when you say I change things in my posts, I'll go back & proof read them & see if I can find my mistakes
