AVP SMLD Boot Issues
« on: May 30, 2019, 10:15:25 AM »
I am fairly new to this, and trying to fix a sporadic issue that is driving me nuts! I have a 3.0 brain box and originally fought some BVA offline problems that appeared to be from some nicked wired (which I repaired and have since gone away. Upon boot, 70% of the time I get the two screens with AVP logo, then the bva cycles and I get three beeps. Whenever that occurs the machine reboots and I end up in a reboot cycle until there are so many errors the machine crashes. Upon resetting everything up after a clear, everything works great. I no longer have  any BVA issues once the machine is running. It seems to me to be some type of hardware check on the boot that is failing and calling for the reset. Typically when it occurs I "mess with things" and eventually it stops cycling and boots. Can anyone tell me what the three beeps mean? :banghead:

I have seen a similar behavior.  I wound up replacing the mpu and the problem has gone away.  My best guess is memory.  I would try replacing the memory simms to see if that fixes the issue.  I have not re-tested the mpu I removed, as I've not had time to test it, since it was a sporadic issue. I basically cleared cabinet memory only whenever that happened and rebooted and it fixed the issue until it happened again at some point.  Ever since I replaced the MPU it has not happened again.
