Bally 831 payout issue
« on: January 19, 2020, 04:25:38 PM »

My 831-C-SD / TL 2831 has a reel glass with three 🍒🍒🍒 where the payout says 12 coins but the hopper only pay out 10 coin?

All the other payout are correct from 2-200 coins and I have a feeling the glass can be wrong, but how can I be sure ?

My payout unit has the number M 645 141and I wonder if anyone know if there is a adjust to change the payout for three cherries to 12 coins or it’s for 10 coins and the reel glass is wrong?

The reel glass is broken so I’m gonna replace it anyway with a reproduction if I can’t find the right original glass and I would like to know if I should go for the 🍒🍒🍒 10 or 12 coins cherry reel glass 🙏😊

I can add picture if that helps 😊

 :thank_you:

my docs say the 831-C-SD was for bally siesbye (denmark).  The schematic is w-1046-951.

it used the same payout counter diagram as the -C and -D models.  The odd thing is the -D schematic shows three cherries pays 12, while the -C schematic says three cherries pays 10.

all three games use the same payout counter disc, and it only has a 10 trace, not a 12.

so one of the following is going on:

1] the schematic for the -D model is wrong

2] my documentation is wrong (the -C, -C-SD and -D didn't all use the same contact plate)

3] the game was offered in different payback percentages and I can't tell from my docs whether the schems are different.  e.g. The 831-D was available in 84.54% and 83.69% payback.  The difference could be pay table amounts or different symbol frequency on reel tapes.

4] there may be another wiper arm on the payout counter unit that is roughly opposite the big span of wipers and by wiring some traces in the upper left corner of the disc, you can add a couple coins to the payout.   I thought when this wiper arm was present it was for handling winning on more than one line at the same time ...

got a picture of your payout counter unit?  Ideally at reset and also stepped up 10 times, and pics taken from back far enough to see the entire contact plate and wire colors attached to the edges.  Also a picture of the payouts.

M-645-141 is correct per my docs.

you can find all the docs for 831-C and -D on http://bingo.cdyn.com/slots/

I checked the wiper arm and the payout unit in the top left corner as you wrote and the wiper arm had a tiny bend so it didn’t have a good connection with the counter disc so now it pay out right 🍒🍒🍒12 so that mean that this is a model D, so now I know which reel glass to order thanks to you Sir  ✨

I am really grateful for your help and your knowledge 🙏😇

you probably have what it says on the plate under the handle, but 831 models B, C, C-SD, D, I, J, K, M and lots more used the same reel glass, so they all have the same payouts for the symbol combinations on that glass.

I've always assumed that the "payout counter disc" on the bottom/right of the schematic was an accurate depiction of the payouts.  You've crushed that notion :-)

since the 831-C-SD was made for non-usa markets, finding the exact schematic would be hard.  You'd be looking for one that says w-1046-951 on it.  Practically speaking tho, you don't need it.  The schem for any 831 machine that uses the same tapes/index discs/wiper wiring/payout counter disc will likely be almost the same.

I don't recall seeing what the payout counter unit with those wipers looks like.  If ya took pictures but can't post them because they are too big, you can email me them at slotpics@cdyn.com.  If that email gets turned off due to excessive spam, use the contact form on the bingo.cdyn.com web site to get a hold of me directly.

SPN sent me the pictures below and I marked them up.

first pic shows the extra wiper arm.  In the second pic, the finger will land on the rightmost trace pointed to on the 10th step of the unit (each step is one coin ejected, and the first 10 steps are handled by the main wipers and 10 trace).

since the extra wiper trace is wired to any cherry pay, the payout circuit stays complete until the extra wiper steps off that trace.  Result is additional two coins ejected.

the main purpose of the extra wiper is handling payouts for wins on more than one line, and on this game the second/smaller pay is always a cherry.

a side effect of how that circuit works is to add a couple coins to a 3 cherry win, so they just bumped up the 3 cherry pay from 10 to 12 on the payout schedule to avoid complicating the circuits.
