AVP Topper buzzing noise
« on: March 01, 2020, 10:47:54 AM »
My IGT AVP Polygon topper is buzzing. It makes noise through the speakers in sync with the flashing light pattern, at times pretty loudly.I unplugged the wiring harness for now, but does anyone have any ideas?
Everything seems to be tightly connected and the topper lights and candle work fine otherwise.

Could be, but other than the noise, the lights all are bright, patterns and colors all work, no flickering, and buzzing comes from the speakers, not the lighting itself.

Make SURE the ground wires/straps/braided lines are ALL connected. All the way from the candle-through the topper- down to the machine frame. Use a meter to confirm continuity from the candle green wire to the slots metal frame at the base. Make sure you have a ground pin on your power cord too. All those items redirect RF interference, which is what you're probably hearing, to an alternate return path (Chassis/Ground).

If you have a spare sound board, swap it out to be sure you don't have an aging filter cap on it.

A rare possibility would be an aging cap in the power supply on the 24V line (swap supplies with known good).

Hope this helps!
