Turning a V22/22 alpha 2 pro into a Curve
« on: March 02, 2021, 07:41:49 AM »
OK, I bought my curve monitor, and am planning on  turning my 22/22 into a curve. Has anyone done this, and are there any surprises you have found if so?

Turning a curve into a 22/22 is easier.  Did you get the touch screen harness with it? It has an odd ball connector.

It's gonna need more than that.  You need a USB cable for the 7 seg display and a power harness for that too.
If it ain't broke don't mess with it.....

I installed the curve monitor on my machine. These attachments show the cables you'll need and how they connect.

I forgot to correct an error in the photos. Keep in mind that on the v22/22 the bottom screen (video & touch) is primary. For the curve monitor the top screen must be primary and the curve monitor is secondary. This requires reversing video and touch cables.

If you can't source one, you can take one from any microtouch RS-232 controller assembly.  That's what I did.

Here's one on e-bay for $17.50 (do not know the seller, I just searched for one)

The power for the LED display is the same one used for the Alpha 9000 elite machines.  That should be relatively easy to source as a lot of those have been parted already.

I am almost, but not quite there. It looks like the power cable does not just plug into the monitor on the curve, but plugs instead into a jumper that also feeds the touchscreen and another power supply. Does anyone have a part# or have one of these I could buy? :banghead:

Yes, there is a power adapter cable that splits out to power the back light for the reel glass and the touchscreen.  It is illustrated in the photo that was posted above.
