KP3 game change
« on: June 01, 2019, 12:34:19 PM »
Does anyone have step by step instructions on how to change the game on a KP3 Podium Machine? I have clear card and other game cards. Selexion software currently installed. Thanks!

The steps since you have a Selexion are as follows.

Power Down

Remove Power Plug from PDU in back of the cabinet (left side)

Unseat power supply (right front of the cabinet behind belly door right under the bill stacker)

Open Logic Door

On the right side of the MPU KP3 Board remove the Selexion Game Theme CF card

Gently insert the new Game Theme CF card into the slot where you removed your installed game.

Gently insert the KP3 RAM Clear CF card into the CF card slot below the Selexion Platform CF card

Reseat power supply (right front of the cabinet behind belly door right under the bill stacker)

Reinsert Power Plug from PDU in back of the cabinet (left side)

Once at the RAM Clear screen in KMS (Konami Machine Setup)

Chose the option to proceed with changes and then maintain existing settings (use navigation legend below to manually maneuver screens or use touch)

First, go into machine id then exit

Then go into all of the other options making sure to enable the following settings throughout each submenu

1. MEI Cash Device (If Others Reading This don't have MEI then select the one you do)
2. Quick Play
3. Reset to Credit Meter
4. Jackpot Reset Limit to Max
5. Printer to None
6. Payout Percentages (Your Preference)
7. Denomination set to lowest on all fields.

All of the other default settings are fine

Choose Max Bet button to save and exit and you should be configuration complete.

Power Machine Off

Remove Power Plug from PDU in back of the cabinet (left side)

Unseat power supply (right front of the cabinet behind belly door right under the bill stacker)

Remove RAM Clear CF card

Reseat power supply (right front of the cabinet behind belly door right under the bill stacker)

Reinsert Power Plug from PDU in back of the cabinet (left side)

Power Machine On and Insert Cash to Play as normal.

Now keep in mind because I've given you the steps out of my head, I can't tell you where exactly the important settings I've just shared to set but if you go into each menu you'll see these options and the point is to make sure you enable them. All other default settings are fine and won't prevent you from using the game. The only extra step you'd ever have to perform would be extended game setup if you're employing the use of a stand-alone jackpot CF like Jackpot streams if you get a 4Gb card.

If you took an image and overwrote a Konami card the game will load and work as it should but if you take a CF card which is not Konami it won't boot and will even prevent the machine from booting after putting in other cf cards which previously booted. The error you will see if NVRAM has broken and it won't let you do anything after that until you put an original non-modified Platform CF and Game Theme CF into the machine and perform a RAM Clear straight away.

The reason for this is all other Non-Konami cf cards use a different size as not all 1Gb and 4Gb cards are the same raw capacity, the cf card you use your images on will work on Non-Konami cf cards if you manage to find a manufacturer which has the exact same raw capacity as a Konami cf does and so far to date I've tried many and have yet to find one that matches the OEM but if you do find one then you can buy as many of those as you have images for and make those games bootable.

The exact size should match kilobytes of the OEM cf cards you have now. There are posts which claim certain SanDisk CF Cards work as well but from first hand experience I have yet to see any other cf card boot. The trick is to find CF cards which have the Silicon Motion NAND Controller inside with model EN2232T AC (G1WS95.1 1715 3D) because the XP embedded driver that looks for this controller will fail and cause the MPU to think there is no CF card in the machine. The errors in the LED indicators are the same as having no CF card in slot CF3 on KP3. Therefore any industrial or commercial cf card which has this controller should boot just fine regardless of its capacity.

1Gb = 982,801KB

4Gb = 4,062,745KB

That is all you really need, but for some reason, if you run into trouble just text me and I will answer.
