cant figure this out on my bally alpha quik hit 2 credit
« on: December 28, 2015, 03:30:59 PM »
i have a question... bally alpha 5x10x $5 2 credit 1 payline quik hit machine with a internal progressive on top...... when the progressive hits it rounds off the payout to a 5 dollar denom..... for example if progressive hits at 5042.00 it will pay 5045.00...... how do i change that? ??? ?? so it pays exactly whats on the progressive....
i tried the base denom as a penny and 1 dollar still didnt work..... :Scratch-Head: :Scratch-Head: :Scratch-Head:

Here are a couple of scenarios I can think of...

1)I have only dealt with the latest OS so I am not sure if the old OS has this option.

Is there a setting called JACKPOT ROUNDING? I know WMS (which also runs on WMS version of Alpha OS) has this option that you can enable and disable. Like I said, I run the latest Alpha 1 OS and always have and not sure if that was an option or not.

-or-

2)
When spinning, sometimes the progressive is delayed. Meaning, you spin and spin and spin, but the progressive is still racking the numbers. Example. You have been playing for a while and the progressive is rolling $425.88, $425.89 ETC but when the progressive hits it would hit $430.00 because the spin you hit at is actually $430.00... Does that make sense?

It's rounding up because you have it set for a $5 "credit".

Bally Internal Progressives pay OUT in Credits, not "dollars and cents". Penny machines pay out "exact" because the progressive is counting in percentages of the credits bet, which are divided up into 100th's of a dollar (pennies). When a progressive pays out, it cannot "keep" any of the amount and must pay out in Credits, so it rounds up to the next "credit" divisible amount.

Think of it this way: If you won a nickel machine progressive, That would be like a nickel machine paying out 3 cents. If there were only nickels in he hopper, it couldn't, so it rounds UP to the next divisible credit amount. That OS was written to accommodate machines with hoppers, even though yours may not have one.

Set up your machine for Credit= .01 and your progressive will pay out exactly what is displayed.

Note: Many External progressive controllers can be configured to accommodate what you're trying to do (they "count" in CREDIT increments ($5 in your case). Or can be a forced "hand-pay" since there cannot be an exact "credit" pay out - depending on how you configure the external controller.

Hope this helps....

Interesting Fireball. Great information you provided here. Is this for ALL internal games or just the older ones. I know I play nickel Quick Hits in the casino and have hot jackpots with cents attached to it as my voucher would show that. It probably is a external controller. I'll have to try that next time I install a progressive game for internal setup.

All the big casinos now use external controllers. WAP server based controllers are the most common. Much easier with the newer technologies to keep track and monitor everything.

One last consideration may be the Jurisdiction. Not all Jurisdictions (gaming commissions) may allow "partial credit" payouts. But if his credits are set at .01, it should pay out the exact progressive amount.

it doesnt my base pay is set to .01 and paytable amount is $5 and its still paying to rounded off denom of $5...... so what os can i change to?? the $5 quik hit machines at the casino pay exactly what the internal progressive says to the penny..... so what would i have to change just the os card?

thanks guys for all your input..... im new to these machines but learning fast....

Post a picture of your CREDIT LIMIT screen. And your DENOMINATION percentage screen.

Looks like you have everything set up correctly. I see Progressive Denomination is set at $5, so I'd say the juristiction is not allowing "partial credit" payouts.

Do you have another Engine with a different Jurisdiction chip you could try?

I sell them for $9 each if you need one. Just PM if interested...

The Jurisdiction Chip is the 8-Pin (8DIP) IC that is socketed on your engines main board. Disconnect ALL the cables plugging into the front of your Engine. Pull gently on the Engine handle and the Engine assembly should slide right out towards you. That's assuming the lock assembly in the upper left corner of the Engine has been removed from it....

When you replace ANY chip, note the "notch" on it. And ALWAYS install the notch in the same position as marked on the circuit board. You WILL DESTROY, Instantly, any (most) IC if reinstalled backwards. Take a photo before you remove it, if that helps you.

1) Boot up - If you want fast boot up you would have to invest in a 1gig MPU. Boots faster and you will be able to convert to newer games. If you dont want to upgrade the MPU, there are 2 switches located in your cabinet. One labeled MAIN and one labeled CABINET. If you turn off CABINET, that kills everything in your cabinet except for your MPU. This is what I do. So when you want to play the game, turn the switch on. The machine will do a mem check and you're good to go.

2) LIGHT CHANGES - All lighting effects are controlled by game. You have no control over the light color or effects... EXCEPT two games that I know that you can change the color of the bezel lights are the 5RM Hot Shot Winning Times and Hot Shot All About the money. Those options to change the color are in the GAME SETUP menu where you setup the max bet, lines, etc.

The Bally MPU's are referred incorrectly by their memory capacity.  Typically the 512MB Mpu boxes have a celeron cpu running at 400 Mhz, while the ones with 1GB or 2GB have a 1Ghz Celeron processor.  It is the 1Ghz processor that makes the difference, and although it is theoretically possible to put a 512MB Simm int oa 1Ghz MPU box, I have never seen one configured that way.  So in short, what helps here is the 1Ghz processor.  Also the 400Mhz mpu's are not memory upgrade able since their DRAM is soldered into the pcb.
