I purchased my 1st slot!!!! It is a S2000 Triple Diamond 9 line machine with a progressive. So far I have had a lot of fun playing the machine, I was a little disappointed that it didn't come with premium sound. When you are playing a slot at home having it ding when a triple hits the 1st reel would make the machine more fun, I think.... Can someone help me determine if my new machine can support premium sound and also, where I could buy a premium sound card? And how to install and configure. Once again I am sorry, I hope to learn all about the machines, however I need a place to start. Thanks in advance. I look forward to chatting with you all.

That theme only has legacy sounds as far as I know. It was one of the fist S2000 titles ever made since there's also an S+ version of it.

The "premium" sounds are only available in certain games. Post a picture of your MPU board to see what software you have installed in your machine and whether or not your have a sound simm installed.

Can an OP please move this topic to the S2000 section.

Ok, you don't have the multi media lite board installed, but I doubt it would make a difference with that theme. If you ever get one of the themes that support enhanced sounds, you will need to get a mmlite board to installed the sound simm that goes with the title (like I Dream of Jeannie, The Munsters, Titanic, etc). The board itself is around $25 or even less sometimes. There's a "generic" simm called DSV00042 which works with a lot of titles and it is worth having (usually around $20 or so). Keep in mind that the enhanced sounds will only work if you have a game theme that works with them, not all do. Since your strips are not backlit, it is unlikely your theme supports the "ding" sound as the Triple Diamond icon shows up.

Rickhunter, thanks so much for your reply. Where would you suggest looking for a [size=0px]DSV00042. Do people usually just go to ebay or amazon or is there a good site to get slot parts? Also, I play this triple diamond 9 line machine at a local casino. It does not have a progressive or backlit reels but it does ding when the triple hits. I wish i could open up the machine and take a pic of that main board. However, I dont think the slot tech at the casino would let me ... haha. Anyways when you say "Theme" are you referring to this game without backlit reels or something specific with my board that could potentially set it apart from the one I play at the casino. Here is a couple pics of the hits I had at the casino. It did ding, and the reels look the same as mine. Well they do to me anyways. [/size]

I can't say if that sound simm is correct for your machine, but others here will know.

where did you purchase this machine? looking at your board I see the heat sink missing from the transistor where the battery used to be located, could cause that component to fail before its time.

When you purchased it I guess it was not done in person, so you didn't know about the sound being different from the similar machines you've played in the casino. Is there a chance the place you bought the machine can add or upgrade the sound for you, possibly at little or no cost since you just bought it from them? They know people often come back to buy other machines down the road, they might work with you on this.

Well - good news, Chris at Slot Machines Unlimited told me he will send me a sound card this week!

I will touchbase back on here after I install the sound card and let you know if it works. Thanks again for everyones fast and helpful comments.

That is good news, and it is probably the sound card that rickhunter is referring to. Possibly they didn't know the machine didn't have it already installed, sounds like they want to keep you as a happy customer. Hopefully it will take care of the sound problem.

I would agree, I can understand why they would want to keep a customer happy when it comes to slot machines. I am afraid to know how many I will purchase over the next few years! haha

Ok... Here is my update. I finally... received a Multimedia lite sound board from Slot Machines Unlimited. It came with DSV00013. After looking on the spreadsheet on this forum, it looks like that one is usually for Triple Lucky 7's. Anyways, I plugged in my multimedia lite with that simm in it and powered on my machine. I get "Incompatible DSV/Sound device". Is this due to the fact that DSV00013 does not work for my title? Or is there something wrong with the media lite board I got? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks in advance.

I remember that early in the thread rickhunter said your game theme may not have enhanced sounds since it is an early game and does not have backlit reels. That may be what is going on. Also, you could try the sound simm DSV00042 he mentioned to see if it does anything. But wait to hear from the others here before ordering anything.

Ok, thanks rokgpsman! I will wait to see what others say. I guess, atleast I got the multimedia lite simm for free. haha. Hopefully there is a simm out there that will work for my machine.

Yes, you need a DSV00042. Some themes will work with almost any Simm, but others are picky. I don't have the game you have, but the DSV00042 is the only "generic" one that seems to work with everything. I would give it a try.
