So i bought a slot that needs some work. My question is. It does not have a meter in it at all. Will that be a problem at all when trying to restore it?

It may or may not be --depending on what you have. You were quite vague with your description. Most of those can be jumped out.

Well its a crystal sevans games. I did do a clear on it. But it comes up wifh main battery low. Then it says ram error. So i was going to change battery. But i am not to sure what ram error means.

Main battery is the coin cell soldered to the board. Replace that and RAM clear it again. The RAM error is normal, you'll also get an eeprom error. Just turn your reset key each time and continue with the boot, you'll end up in the keychip menu where you can do your setup.

After a battery change no key chips should be needed. You will get a ram error. Open the door and an alarm will sound. Turn the jackpot reset key 3 times and your front display will say press and hold reset button for 3 seconds. That's the white button on the MPU. After you release the button the front display will say close the door. You may get a crc mismatch error after the ram error. Follow the above steps again

So It has been reset all is good. The new problem is that. When the door is closed all looks normal. It will play for awhile. Well at some point it will start flashing the candle and the display will do the same thing. It will not come up with any error codes or anything. When its doing this the door is closed the whole time. Any ideas?

I would turn the machine off and check to make sure your power supply behind the reels is plugged in nice and snug. Also make sure all wire harness plugs are secure and your MPU is pushed back in nice and tight. If you soldered the battery in, make sure there is no solder splash on anything around the battery

Ive done all this I have checked all the chips in the tray they are good. Ive looked at all the wiring its all good and lined up like it should. I removed the reels and tighted the power supply. So I dont know where else to check?

Did you do a full clear and reset? If you haven't, as a last resort, I have attached the procedure for you.

I have done a clear and a reset on it. When I do turn the menu opions on it will stay on like normal. Nothing flashing at that point. But then when you go back to the game it comes up flashing again.

Have you checked the door optics for proper adjustment.

what exactly is flashing? the candle, or the entire display, is it the alpha numeric display or is it the digital display?

I mean, did you set accounting denom, player denom, machine type, etc? If you did a clear, and there really isn't a basic clear, it's all or nothing when using a clear chip, then these parameters must be set in menu 7 along with limit settings in menu 3. I would think if your door optics were causing an issue then you would get alternating door open, door closure displays on the VFD, but definately check that out. Stranger things have happened

He stated that it plays some after he cleared it then the candle and display flash with no errors. Sounds like optic alignment or MPU board going bad from battery spluge.

When I did the clear yes I did set that all up. I dont get any type of message saying door open. Its just once it up and running it just starts going crazy with it flashing. So is it a chance it could be a bad board?

Sure could be, but no guarantees. If you open and close the door while it's acting up does the game reset? Is the latch seated all the way down when the door is closed? What are the cabinet florescent lights doing when it acts up? Can you post a picture of the MPU, specifically the area of the green Varta battery whether it's still there or not?

I will post a pic of that area when i get a chance. The lights are all fine when its doing it. Plus yes the game will reset when the foor is closed. Sometimes when the gand is being played it will come up with reel dicounted issue i will reset it and its fine again.
