I would go into accounting, security accounting and check to see how many main door opens and drop door opens you have. Also If you have a green varta battery on your board, You should probably remove it, and clean any corrosion that may be eating the traces on your board. Push self test button on your board, push spin reels, push cash out till you get to security, push spin reels, push cashout until you get to main door opens.

If you are talking about the eeprom error message you get when you clear the machine this is a normal thing. The eeprom is located on the mother board(backplane). It has values that it checks to see if it agrees with the MPU. When you clear the machine you have reset the values and they no longer match what is on the eeprom and an error is triggered. By turning the jackpot key the error will clear.

So what should I do next. When its being played it will go to general tilt error. I will have to reset it. Once it has been restarted it will play for a few and then again it happens. The display and candle flicker at the same time as this is happening.

Try unplugging the 3 ballast's for your lights. I have heard if 1 is bad, it can cause similar problems.

If your board isn't acid damaged where the Varta battery is/was, you can try the door optics bypass listed as an FAQ in the S2000 topic homepage. If you have bad or faulty optics it will eliminate that as a problem. It ises that white cherry swith on the cabinet frame to show when the door is open and doesn't care if the door is latched tight as long as it's closed

Looks clean, but looks like there could be trace damage near where the positive battery terminal was soldered in. Hard to call it conclusive evidence

 So would you call this the malfunction of the game?  When the battery was removed it was in pretty bad shape a lot of corrosion on the battery.

Any 500 series board will work, but for nice clean sound a 504 is your best bet

Have you tried to realign the door optics I'd hate to see you buy a board only to find out it's an alignment problem.
