IGT S+ DBV 145 Not Accepting Any Bills
« on: July 22, 2016, 05:44:32 PM »
Looking for advice. I have tried all the obvious things. I reset cash box, cleaned optics, did the BV set with chip. I t does start up on power up, red led are lit on the inside. I don't see any bevel lights on the front. I pulled out and reinstalled the transport.  It just wont pull bills in. Their are no error codes and both tilt lights are off on top. Machine does play with coins. Is their anything else I can try?

Those 145 heads do go out
You can pull out the bill acceptor and look to see if a bill got rolled up in the tracker
Also the power supply might be bad try unplugging the small plug on the side of the bill head and plug it back in to see if it recycles

You did verify that all dipswitches on the DBV-145 are set to OFF? Also, just to make sure, are you aware that the DBV-145 is a one-way acceptance bill validator? It requires the bill to be inserted face-up, with the black seal end of the bill inserted first. This isn't likely the problem since I think the DBV would at least pull the bill in even if it was being inserted the wrong way. Was this the DBV that was in the machine when you got it? The sticker on top of the DBV says it is ID-023, could your machine be using ID-022 instead? I'm pretty sure that some S+ game chips use ID-022, not 023.

Yes I checked the dip switches yesterday and the previous owner said he used that validator before. He said it was working before..I has the updated power supply with the vents..

The updated power supply with the vents is relevant if you are migrating from the 145 to the 200 as the 200 uses more power. Either power supply is good for the 145

For the purposes of troubleshooting bill validators always work with a $1 bill, albeit I don't think denomination is your current issue.

I would go back to your SET chip and re-enable the bill validator. I would reference the PSR and ensure your hopper limits and credit limits are at least 300.

What game chip are you running --- I refer you to Ricks FAQs to determine this.  You can find Ricks FAQs about 1/2 way down the NLG home page on the right.

I would go back to your SET chip and re-enable the bill validator.

This.  If the bill validator isn't even attempting to pull a bill in, it is most likely either disabled, or it is not sensing that the stacker box ("cash can") is properly seated.  If it had been accepting bills until recently, check the stacker box.  If it has never accepted bills while you've had it, check to see if the validator is enabled in the machine.

JCM Manual say that if in test mode and the validator does not pull in the bill to replace the validator.

If the transport is binding or jammed for some reason that can prevent the DBV head from working since they are connected by gearing. You can temporarily disengage the head from the transport and set a dipswitch for the head to work without being mated to the transport, then test if it will pull in bills. Also, when installing the head and mating it to the transport the locking lever on the side needs to be all the way down, sometimes that is a little difficult to get into place.

If you decide to replace the DBV-145 I'd look at getting a good working DBV-200 head, it is a direct replacement for the DBV-145 and will have newer software available that will work with more bills currently in circulation. The DBV-200 heads are still around, if you get one from a slot dealer they will load the last available (most recent) IGT S+ software into it that is ID -022 and -023, so the head will work with all S+ game chips. There are several reliable places to get one, here is an example:

Have you put the validator into the test mode?  You haven't previously told us that you have.

I started out with the original same problem.....  my BV  wouldn't accept any bills.  Then  I screwed it up totally by attempting to turn the reset key and start pushing buttons  :hissyfit:

Although I have a DVB 200,  the root cause of all my machine issues was a bad power supply that mounts to the side of the BV.   After trying all sorts of test that my original selling dealer had me do over the phone,  he had me ship him my entire DBV,  coin comparator, and coin comparator base mount to them.  He put them in known good machines and verified my BV was good.   It was the power supply that had crapped out.  He sent me another one.   As for the coin comparator, my coins were just dropping through and he fixed  the fingers on the back side if it that had moved.

All good now.  You may want to check that power supply.

The transporter does cycle on when powering up and in test mode it did run a dollar bill all the way into the cashbox once.  I haven't been able to repeat it again. I tried the test mode again and the transporter cycled for a pretty long time. It wouldn't accept bills thou. The one time it did accept bill in test mode the bezel light on the front did come on once. I give up and ordered a upgraded dvb-200 head unit. I hope that's the problem. Thanks for everyone's help. I will update everyone when I get the new head unit this week.

I'm sad to report after installing the new dbv 200 I still have the problem. I did find one problem after watching a fyi video my transporter was not seated properly. Now it almost cycles normally but the last part of the cycle where it runs at a higher speed is not happening. So I believe its either something wrong with the cashbox or transporter motor speed. Is their any info out there on how I could check this? Is there any info on taking the cash box apart where its gear is? Thanks everyone I'm almost there
