Help setting up Vision on a non-vision game.
« on: April 28, 2014, 12:08:31 AM »
I have a Double diamond Run 5 reel.  I purchased the Vision kit  from a user on here Steve which worked in his DDR which I guess he accidently dropped... but that's another story.. (screen with PCMCIA cards for double diamond run )   I can't get the thing to work at all.  the upper screen is stuck on "Initializing please wait..."

I have a few chips.. Clear chip vision chip and a key chip... I'm sure you might need the numbers...
But I want to figure out the "Correct way" to setup this .  Its my personal machine and I have two others I want to get converted over to vision (Cleopatra and Enchanted unicorn ** but I donno if they have one for that)

Thanks everyone... And thanks to Steve for selling me a kit.

It should only be about 17 seconds of the "Please Wait " message appearance on the screen.
Install a jumper on your topbox MPU and make a short video of everything loading up when booting up.
The messages displayed may help us troubleshoot what's going on.
Here's a link on how to install a jumper...>>>

I added the jumper.. I can see it boot up.. it ID's both flash cards.   I don't think I have a problem with the vision top... but the machine itself.  I don't think I have it configured properly for the vision top... Thus why it stays on the "Initializing please wait...."

I'm gonna try another set of netplex cables...

It is going to be the version chip you have is not compatible with the vision game. You're old theme was a 3 reel? Now you have a 5 reel? I can't get to my game until Tuesday to see what I have. You do NOT want a NJ version as it will take 7 minutes to boot compared to 2 minutes with NV

I currently have a 5 reel version not 3 reel version .  I am installing a vision on my existing 5 reel DDR.  does that clarify?

I'll take your word.  when I get home from work I'll look at it and get any numbers I see as for version off the cards / eproms.  Then I guess the big hunt will be finding them.  unless you can send me the files.

Version VS011GX1 is what is in mine. I had the same problem when making a Fox N Hound from a Triple Cash. Since you had a DDR already, are the game 1 & 2 chips the same for vision?

You're chips are on the main board that slides out from the side. You will see game 1 & 2 (SG) and Reel chip (SB) and also Version chip. Post all your #'s here. I know a lot but by far not an expert either. I'm sure Cowboy will chime in. If we worry about looking dumb we would never get our games fixed. haha

OK I just trecked out in the rain to the shop. My DDR vision from the factory has SB000931 1 & 2 and SG000621 with VS011GX1 45 credit 9 line 5 reel. You might need to ask Steve to send you the vision chips from it.

No dice.   Changed it over to the VS011GX1 version.  Game still doesn't see upper screen.  I don't think I am to certain on what chips are needed to setup the upper screen or proper procedure.   Does anyone have a cheat sheet for how it should be setup.

You also have to be sure you have not disconnected anything from the Comm board in lower cabinet.
Especially the ribbon cable and the 7 pin black connector with grey wires in it.
Also make sure nothing is disconnected in top box either.
