Anyone repair S2000 Power Supply's? I have 2 DOA, would like to repair them.

I have 2 power supply's, both the same make and model that are totally dead, not even the machines florecent bulbs will light up. I inspected both power supply's and don't see and bulging caps or any leaking. The fuse in both check good on my VOM. The only thing I see is brown staining on the inside of the cover from my guess is heat. Can anyone give me an idea of what to check? Being totally deadly seems strange? I would think the florescent bulbs would light being 115V.

have you checked the solder joints under the board. i have had a few power supply's that the transformers had bad solder joints.

No I have not.. I will check them and the others.

Also just because the caps dont look bad doesn't mean they haven't leaked. I usually use an esr meter but they can give fauls readings. I haven't tested it yet but i have heard you can black light boards to check for cap leakage or heat damage in pcbs. It may only work on some types of board.

I would think the florescent bulbs would light being 115V.

The S2000 uses electronic DC ballasts that operate off of the +25VDC supply.  The ballasts in turn provide the power to light the tubes

I understand the 25v powers the lights, but my question is what would cause the whole power supply to be dead? The main fuse is good, i removed it and checked it with my meter.. Does this point to a certain bad cap, or a transformer? if I had a schematic of the power supply, then I could follow the input flow..

There's at least three different versions of power supplies for the S2000 (and GK/I-game too).  Not sure what model you have there, but here's schematics for 3y and Autec power supplies.

That's a 3Y pwr supply. You can order a cap kit from Suzzo that will replace all but 1 cap. has a 90% success rate I find.

Bad think with Suzzo Happ is the $100 min order amount!! I can buy 3 power supply's for that same $100..

Looks like the power supply has a couple of line voltage filters, that might be something to check. On older slot machines that had a line filter module (where the a/c power cord connected to them) that used to be a problem sometimes and people would just bypass them.
