IGT S2000 504b MPU vs. 3902 MPU heat

So is there a reason to keep the small cooling fan that blows onto the 3902 MPU?  A 504b MPU in an S2000 is also enclosed, but does not have a cooling fan.  I don't have a "hot" CRT in my Game King...switched it out a couple of years ago, so the machine is much cooler inside. 

Anybody see any harm killing the MPU fan in an upright i-game/Game King?

Why take a chance keep that fan in there

Noise reduction is the reason behind the question.  I haven't run the cab fans in either machine in years and they're fine.

id luv to be able to turn off the fans in my top dollar..... the 16" top box is so loud running....

Yeah, I'm just wondering why a 3902 MPU requires a fan and a plain S2000 MPU doesn't require an MPU fan.  Does the 3902 MPU really create a lot of heat by comparison, or was it because there was a lot of heat generated by the CRT monitors that an S2000 wouldn't have, thus not requiring an MPU fan?

I think even the S2000 could use a fan after looking at the sockets on a legacy board for a 1270 mpu they are slightly warped
