S2000, coins not dropping into the hopper, but the black plastic trough instead

What causes this and how can I resolve the problem?

Check the sensor positions on the outward side of the hopper to be sure they are set in place correctly. If the moveable one is set in the lowest hole it doesn't take a whole lot of coins to cover it and show the hopper full thus diverting coins to the overflow. Could also be a bad diverter solenoid below the coin optics

Just unplug the power to the solenoid on the coin comparitor and problem solved.

My new (to me) machine was doing the same thing. Looked at the exploded view & discovered that the diverter flap was MISSING on mine. MacGyvered a fix with a cut down old credit card to do away with the flap. Works great!!

I encoutered some machines with a faulty hopper PCB, i think. However I put coins to cover the level sensor the machine would still send coins into drop/hopper. After replacing the hopper the problem was solved. I don't know though what was wrong with the PCB or how to repair the issue. Hope it helps.

Just for future reference, covering the level sensor with coins tells the ma nine the hopper is full and diverts future coins to theoverflow

I might add to be sure your hopper limit is not set to 0. Machine will divert everytime if so.
