Bb2e no B.V found

Picked up a BB2E that had no BV, popped a tested working MEI in and although the B.V has power, it does not Communicate with machine.


I have another BB2 with the same MEI B.V and triple checked that all wiring matches I've also swapped complete B.V units from one machine to another and no matter what, it does not communicate in this recent BB2E I got.


Swapped CPU, checked all back plane harnesses ect. I'm stumped. This machine had a IVISION that was pulled if that helps. No errors on machine, B.V has flashing green light.


(In Diagnostics the machine sees no B.V)
Any help would be greatly appreciated

You have to clear the machine and set it up game again with mei validator to get it to work.

This machine Had a UBA now it has  MEI does anyone know if any of the jumpers on the back plane have to be changed.


Any help would be greatly appreciated

By swapping in another complete and working MEI bv setup from a different machine I think you've proven that the problem isn't with the MEI itself. Does the bv pull in the bill and then reject it, or does it not even do that? Any chance the problem could be a limit setting in the machine, so that the bv is being told to not accept a bill?

Another thought, does this machine have an oddball jurisdiction that doesn't allow bv operation? For a while some jurisdictions in the US did not allow cash to be used in slot machines, you could only play with tokens bought at the casino cage. Seems like Missouri was like that. Jurisdiction chips are often located on the backplane board.

My Guess Would be Jumpers on left side of backplane...

Rick Hunter is the expert on that I believe he will know how they should be configured.

No the b.v will not take any bills in at all. And when I look in diagnostics it say no B.V found. I really think it's all cummincation issue. The machine just does not see the B.V. hopefully I can find out more about the j pins on back plane.

If the problem is due to the backplane jumpers can you compare the backplane jumpers in the other BB2 that works?

I am jumping for joy after many hours of scratching my head it works j pins were the answer thanks so much for the help. And thank goodness for NLG. I will become a contributing member what great help thanks again to those that helped.
