"COIN-IN JAM" Re-visited

Well...here I go. I recently aquired an IGT S2000 (Run for your money) that didn't do anything when you powered it on. After inspecting the usual, power supply, molex connectors, and obvious things like loose and tarnished or burnt connections, I could claim no success... Then after a close look at the chips in their sockets, I found the stepper base chip (SB000188) had a pin bent up under the chip, not inserted in the socket, so after carefully straightening out that problem and re-seating the chip...(and doing my share of praying)...I powered on the machine.
To my surprise it initialized and cycled through it's routine, until the "please wait" graphic started forming, then it immediately flashed to the infamous "CALL ATTENDANT...COIN-IN JAM" and "M DOOR OPEN"... So, after reading archive posts on the subject,  I've tried another I O Board, also a MPU Board, and a clear chip function, at the end of which it did not read "MACHINE TYPE MISMATCH", it simply initialized again and stopped at the "COIN-IN JAM" error once more. I am currently at my wit's end. I know I'm missing something...This is my first bout with a S2000 and I am obviously a newbie here.  I need HELP.
Does anyone think the GME1 or GME2 chips may be my problem?

Sounds like it in the machine wiring. What kind of coin comparator does it have (if it has one).

If the comparator is not a 13VDC unit with inhibit you could get that message, or a bad optic board could give you that message.

If you don't have a coin comparator or optics the coin section should be jumpered out with a 15 pin Molex connector with two jumper wires on it.

See if someone removed it.

Does it have coin handling or at least a jumper plug on the unused comparitor harness? If the clear chip didn't work it may be because there are credits on the machine. You could swap the ram chips to eat h others sockets and try the clear again, but a clear won't likely resolve the issue

Check the I/O cards in the door look for bent pins.
also lift and reset the door latch a few times.

Coinless or Coin-In is the real question here!



You're fine....Dont despair, we will have you fixed up in no time! This is a Reel S2000, not a video, correct? You never specified, but I think Run For Your Money is an I-Game/Video. If so, it's your door I/O. It's a little card type board in the door of the machine. May just not be seated properly. Remove and reseat with machine OFF.


Machine Type Mismatch simply needs to be cleared and set-up properly. One of the first thing the game asks you is Machine Type....to which the answer would be Upright.


Don't freak out. You have a Clear Chip" 99% chance there is nothing wrong with your machines wiring. DON'T MESS WITH THE WIRING, this is not an EM!!!!

I believe this is a Reel S2000 (Vision), as it does have a monitor in the upper cabinet...and yes, it has a 13VDC comparitor CC-16D-INH. I will carefully check those areas suggested, and return online (hopefully with good news) tomorrow...and by the way, THANK YOU FOR THE QUICK RESPONSES!
