Alpha 2 Pinter Com Error

I just did a factory clear on my Alpha 2 Pro Curve machine. I tried to
set up the ticket printer which was not working when i received it. The
game now locks up with “voucher printer com error” Any advice on how
to clear this error or at least get back to game mode with handpay?

Clear again, and select no printer.  You probably have a printer that is not flashed for your machine.  Do a test print on the printer (Hold down "feed" while it powers up).  It will print out a test ticket with the firmware name on it among other things.

Hi Rick,
I did a test printout and this is what i got. Im not sure if it is flashed for
my machine or not. Can you tell from this?

How did you setup validation?  You will get a printer com error until you set validation correctly.   The firmware looks to be good.

I set validation to standard? Not sure if the rest is set
up properly.

I am assuming you are selecting the right printer in the machine setup options?  Standard is correct if you have no tito.  What are the host options setup as?

Im usually pretty good in setting up Bally machines
but this one has me stumped. I do appreciate the help

Everything looks right.  Did you pick the right printer in the cabinet setup options?  If you did, then you might just have a bad printer?

I did pick the right printer in setup which in my case was the Ithaca 950
Is it possible to have a bad printer even though it printed the test ticket?
Thats all i can think of at this point. I did another clear and just set the machine
back to handpay so at least im up and running again. Thanks again for all your
input. Im gonna order another printer and try again when i get it.

Yes, it is possible that it prints a test ticket but the printer is still bad, that doesn't test the serial interface.
