IGT S+ FreePlay Modification
« on: October 18, 2019, 02:42:56 PM »
Hi All - Not a new topic certainly but I wanted to share some pics of a mod to an IGT S+ Go Bananas Slot Machine. This was one of two I refurbished earlier this year; got it back in a trade-up for a Game King I was working on. Before I send this out into the world again I thought I would add the FreePlay option and my version of the Virtual Hopper that I documented earlier on the forum.

The FreePlay mod is the same one on this forum - wiring a button (in this case Change) into the Coin-in Self Test switch pins and adding a toggle switch to turn on/off the door optics since the self-test switch does not work with the door closed. Was really easy to implement and works perfectly. Also decided to add a simpler version of my Virtual Hopper - this one plugs into the hopper plug and will simulate an actual hopper - but with no coins. This version doesn't have the printer connection. Works pretty well together with the freeplay option. Hopefully will add some value to the resale.

Pics below.

Do people really want a "free play" option? Every one that I have sold had to have coin in and hopper. It has been more important then bills. They all want the feel of the coins.
Thank Ya Thank Ya Very Much.

I'm sure there are those that love the coin action; but there is a cost to fill these machines up - be it real money or tokens. There are also some jurisdictions that do not allow any coin-play machines so free-play would be an option.

Hi Marc,

I'm setting up an S+ for freeplay, and I like the idea of a virtual hopper. Do you have a schematic or can point me to somewhere that has info on building one?

Thanks!

Jay

Hi Jay - mine was based loosely on the attached design; instead of building the 555 timer circuit I used a premade 555 squarewave generator (https://www.amazon.com/Anmbest-Frequency-Adjustable-Generator-Rectangular/dp/B07FBZLD3W/ref=sr_1_9?dchild=1&keywords=555+timer&qid=1600715293&sr=8-9) to do the work; You will also need the relay and the hopper plug. I am sorry but I can't find my virtual hopper plans at the moment; my hopper/printer version is on the forum here but it has issues so I don't recommend following it.
