Have to use clear key after battery replacement?
« on: January 10, 2020, 09:38:22 AM »
I have two machines that had to have their batteries replaced on the board.  Pretty straight forward physical process.  On both machines during start up I am getting errors that I cannot for the life of me get cleared.
Machine 1 - S-2000 Jekyll and Hyde 3 reel upright.  Throwing a Unkown coin error (and door M)Machine 2 - I-game Game King Throwing a coin out jam error.
Neither machine has ever had coin capabilities. Both machines worked fine before I started getting the low batt error.
One machine has the green Varta but no leak.  Other machine does not have green Varta.

No.  The only time you normally need to use a clear on a S2000 is if you need to change the accounting denomination.

GK/I-game is a little different, but normally no, you don't need to clear it either.  Don't you already have a thread going for the I-game?

Get rid of the varta battery.  I will eventually leak and cause damage to your MPU board.

On the J&H, it initially threw and account denomination error and was set to $0.25 through the 7.1.1.1 menu (and 7.1.1.2 I believe).  After that, the unkown error came up.
The I-game unit had been asked about in the other thread you mentioned.  Only mentioned it again here as I was asking about the clear key since I have two similar machines with pretty similar errors after battery change.

Will do on the Varta.

Wiseone posted a reply to your coin-out jam problem.  Check it out he's right.

S2000's and GK/I-games share some common components and have some similarities, but they are quite different.  That's why there's two different forums here too.  When you try to mix them it creates confusion.

So we're in the S2000 section here, what's the current issue with your Jekyll and Hyde machine?

After the button cell was replaced, the machine kept throwing an accounting denomination error.  Accessed menu 7.1.1.1 and .2 setting both to 0.25.  After that, now getting an unknown coin denomination error  (both errors also show door M closure error as well, but I think are always there when other errors.)  If I try and go back to those menus now, I cannot change them again.

something very confusing here!  you said the machines were working fine before the battery went south.  on every s-2000 I have ever worked on, when the battery is bad, all you do is replace the battery and turn on the machine, it comes up with a ram error message, turn the reset key four times until you see the press the white test button for five seconds, press the button, count to five slowly and close the door, it should say initializing, then it may come on or you have to repeat the process, then the machine should work as before.  nothing else to do.  can't understand why you would get those errors if the machine worked prior to the battery going south?

Did you set the player denomination to .25 as well (7.1.1.3)?  You also have to set the game selection (paytable for your denomination) in 7.1.2.  Closure M is not an informational message, not an error.  The machine is just letting you know the Main door has been closed.

Also  :I_agree_1: with Jim's post.  You shouldn't have to mess with anything, just follow the onscreen directions and the machine will come right up.  I'm assuming you used a clear chip on it...did you? If so, don't do it again as it is unnecessary after changing the battery and only creates more problems.

Wish I knew why as well.  Been working for almost two years.  I had been going on the assumption that I didn't have to do anything either.

I will have them set and keep my fingers crossed.  I did not clear anything, don't have the chips (yet).
