And put that clear chip away where you can't find it. Clear chips are last resort use.

According to the instructions I received with my chip set, I have to clear errors before moving to the Key Chip procedures. I can't get the errors (ram error) to clear. I have tried unplugging the machine and starting again but no luck. Still has alarm with Ram Error message and won't stop no matter how many times I turn key, door closed or open. What leds should be lit when powered on?

Check your key switch for continuity, or try shorting the wires together. Just be careful if you decide to pull the connectors off of the key switch that you don't pull the back of the switch off.

Jumped wires to key switch together, no change. Can't get past Ram Error message to clear other errors to proceed with clear procedures. Help!

After the ram clear did you use the key chip to set up the machine?  The machine won't work unless you key the machine and then put the sb chip back in and do all the set up like cowboy said.

Pull the 2 ram chips and swap to each others sockets then run your clear again. Ram error after a clear may indicate a bad MPU but let's not to there yet. Does hope king and closing the door make absolutely anything happen that would indicate the machine is seeing it happen?

Yes, you now need a key chip which is different from a 0097 chip.

I have seen a complete key chip procedure posted somewhere on a the NLG site, maybe someone knows where you can go to download it.

Here's the basics...

S2000 Key Chip Instructions

To Key Chip a machine, the machine CANNOT have ANY credits on it or the changes will NOT be saved. After cashing out the credits, follow the instructions below:

- Power off machine, open door and remove MPU
- Remove the the SB chip (notice direction of the notch)
- Install Key Chip in that socket (align notch correctly)
- Re-Install MPU and Power on machine, leaving the door OPEN!
- Watch LEDs on front of the MPU. When 2 amber lights are lit, turn off machine.
- Pull MPU and remove Key Chip.
- Replace SB (check notch and pins/legs) and Re-Install MPU.
- Power on machine, leaving the door OPEN!
- When it boot up you will see "Key Menu" in display.
- Use buttons on button deck to navigate menus and make desired changes.

When all changes have been made, close the door.

You forgot to mention "rinse and repeat".

If you set something wrong or accidentally exit the key menu you have to start all over by reinserting the key chip.

My first time I think I did it 8 times before I got everything right.

I like cowboys idea, try closing the door and see if it goes from ram error to call attendant. If it does not your board is probably bad anyway. And you can do the key and clear as separate procedures, I started off doing them separately before I learned you could do both at the same time.

Fixed that RAM error a couple of times by simply swapping the position of the two RAMs and running the key chip.
