Triple Triple Diamonds - 61 code after battery replacement
« on: September 12, 2020, 01:50:32 PM »
Hello. I bought my first slot machine a few days ago. The person who sold it to me said it would need a new battery and maybe reset.

I read through these forums and tried a few things before submitting this post. When I got it home and plugged in, I got the 12 error code so I ordered a battery holder and batteries. I received them today and soldered the holder to the board and installed the new battery. When I plugged in the machine, I received the 61 error and pressed the white button for a few second and received the 61-1 error. I closed the door and turned the jackpot key. The displays went blank for a moment and I had hopes it would work, but then I was presented the 61 error again. Pressing the white button clears the screens for a moment and then the 61 comes back. I can't get back to the 61-1 error unless I remove the CMOS chip (It might be easier and less challenging to remove the battery at this point).

Am I due for a reset chip? Thanks!

Sounds like it is time to use a clear chip and totally clear the machine.

It doesn't sound like your in the 61, 61-1, 61, 61-1 loop. This often occurs after a battery change.
A clear chip usually straightens this out.

You went from a 61-1, to a 61 where you are stuck. The next step is to turn the jackpot reset key.
I refer you to Ricks Faqs on our home page (bottom right) and they have all the steps for a game-change.

Assuming you did turn the jackpot key and it didn't go away - Another reason for this is the door doesn't think its closed.
The common issue here is often the cash can door. They remove the locks they swing open inside. A small piece of electrical or duct take will hold it shut.
The issue post that would be the door optics.....

I still get the 61 code, but don't receive the 61-1 code anymore. When I have the 61 code, and turn the jackpot key, the machine clicks, the spin reels button lights up, the coins played screen rotates through 0,1,blank, and the tower lights flash between orange and green. I'm bouncing through menus trying to correlate what I see with the documentation available in the Excel sheet and the self-test diagnostic cards. Here is what I see.

Each row is a press of Spin Reels...

Based on your initial detailed description (nice detail, BTW) I do believe you are at the point that you'll need to use a RAM clear chip.

If your machine is equipped with a dollar bill validator, you'll also need a SET chip to re-enable it after the clear. You can typically find a set of both chips on eBay for $10 to $15.

It appears I found my way into the machine's statistics information.

The orange tower light is flashing slowly and the green light is flashing fast. Is there a mechanical tilt mechanism or reset? I pulled the cash box and compared it to pictures in other posts and things looked okay. The motors sound okay too.

I pulled the coin comparitor and found a large Eisenhower $1 coin. I removed a spacer and fit a Susan B Anthony dollar in the slot. Is this good enough or so I need to look for a new coin compatitor? And a new coin hopper?

I'm still stuck in the 61 state, but I have a reset chip and bill validator chip set on order from ebay.

Thanks for the help so far!

If your using large tokens (ie dollars) you want a CC-13, if your using quarters or smaller a CC-16
I think the one you have is probably fine.

When the machine is working properly - door closed, ready to accept coins, turning the jackpot reset key puts you into statistics mode.
It does NOT do that with the door open.

SO....

The 61 should clear after the jackpot reset key is turned. If it does nothing typically that means one of the doors are not closed.
**However**
If the door was not closed you could not get into statistics mode.

This brings us to Knagls recommendation that you run the clear chip through.

The reset and BV chips showed up today. I ran through their processes and the machine is up and running, bill validator included. I tried to get dollar coins from my bank, and ended up with Sacagaweas, Susan Bs, and Presidents. The coin comparitor wasn't going to work with those smaller coins so I bought these tokens from ebay and they work just fine. https://www.ebay.com/itm/50-GOLDEN-1-SLOT-MACHINE-TOKENS-NEWLY-MINTED-DOLLAR-SIZE/282229980478

Now I need a second mortgage to keep feeding this beast. I learned a lot in a short time and know there's more I can do to make the machine better.

Thanks for all the help! I hope I can pay if forward at some point.

Excellent to hear.

Now you need to buy a second machine and we can start talking about adding progressives, overhead signage, etc.
You can probably find a large cheque on Ebay so you can take your friends pictures when they hit the top award.
Then you will need a digital picture frame to display these so you can entice other players..... :dancing_2:
