Replacing a Jackpot Key Switch
« on: October 14, 2020, 03:03:57 AM »
Hi everyone first time post and newbie here. I went searching through the posts and didn't seem to find the answer I was looking for so if anyone can point me in the right direction I would appreciate it. Here Goes:
Former slot attendant from 20 years ago and current casino pit boss decided to buy up a few old machines for my cave. As I  have a gaming license I can only own machines in my state that are more then 25 years old. So I bought a WMS 4000 series Winning Streak, a IGT S series Double Diamond, and a IGT S+ 5 times pay Wild. All bought through private sales from home users off of Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist all from home users simply looking to pass on machines. No major problems so far until this one issue.
I finally hit a lockup award on the 5 Times Pay Wild and scared the hell out of the cat when the bell started screaming. No problem, turn the jackpot key and move on. I turn the key, nothing happens, the bell keeps screaming and now the wife wants to  know who's on the phone.
Crap. So I open it up to find the previous owner had somehow disconnected the wires to the Jackpot switch. Even better, had also appeared to have removed one of them entirely. I opened the machine to find nothing at all connected to the terminals with a Green 22 gauge wire with a connection  zip tied to the harness attached to the power switch and no sign of a second lead.

After pulling the actual switch from the side of the cabinet I also realized that the key itself did not spring back to its 12 O'clock position so I went ahead and ordered a replacement Jackpot switch.

Now when this thing arrives I have one wire that I suspect from it's location and endcap that fits on the Jackpot switch is one of the two I need to connect here. my question where is the second one and where does it need to connect from the Jackpot switch? I have a copy of the IGT S series manual on PDF but am having no luck finding the wiring diagram.

Thanks in advance!

You stated that your issue was with your S+ machine, 5xWild, you also said you were checking the "S" wiring diagram for where it goes???

I have the S+ book, it shows the "display reset switch"  as the jackpot reset switch.  two wires,  one solid green, from the switch to J10 pin 16, the other wire is a yellow/green wire, it goes from the switch to J10 pin 15.   the solid green wire is B ground, the yellow wire will put that ground on P1 pin 22a when it is turned.

Hope this helps

Jim

Thanks Jim. yeah it's a combined S and S+ series manual PDF. Was able to trace the wires and reinstall a new (used) switch.
