I went into the hopper limits but can’t really see the amount change 
Coins still not going into hopper.
Now I’ve got a printer error/ call attendant...can’t play machine at all now

Just disconnect the friggin' diverter and be done with it.  What is the printer error?

Printer error gone...
Whatever I changed in the options menu, the quarters are now going in the hopper.
Question about the game operation...
Let’s say a cherry comes up on the pay line, will it just add credits or can it dispense 2 quarters instead ? Same with any other score able icon.

With NO credits on machine, set credit level to 00001 and it will pay off in coins to the tray if that's what you want.

Thanks...yes that’s what I want. I think I need to buy a new information menu / screen...hard to read a lot of the characters
