S2000 battery replaced, now locked up
« on: December 18, 2021, 08:40:45 PM »
I just replaced the batteries on 2 S2000’s. When I turned the machine’s back on display shows ram error, so I turned reset key and it came up with hold test button 2-3 seconds. Then please close main door. I did that and now nothing happens. HELP, HELP, HELP, I’ve never seen this before. On 2 machines within 10 minutes. Any clues as to what I screwed up?

When you say nothing happens, you don't get any other errors? Were the machines working before you replaced the batteries? What do your displays show?

Wait, which batteries did you replace? Not the verta battery I hope, from what I have learned you do not need these batteries for home use and should remove them as they will leak and damage your MPU.

After replacing the RAM battery did you measure the RAM chips with a DC volt meter to make sure the battery voltage is reaching the RAMs?
Let them that don't want any, have memories of not getting any.

Only replace the coin cell. Completely remove the green batteries permanently.

What kind of boards? 1270 boards need U16 removed as well as the green battery.

Did you solder completely? Reverse polarity? Overheat? Bridge a connection perhaps?

Was there corrosion already present when you removed the green battery and you possibly disturbed an already fragile trace?

They are1270 boards that I replaced the coin battery on. I also removed the Varta batteries on them. When I put one back in display showed ram error with beeping noise. I used reset key until hold 2-3 seconds white button. After that display shows close door ( no other messages ). This is where it’s stuck. Machine was working prior to this. Also had 0 credits when I performed batteries being changed. I’ve never done anything with U16 on any of my other S2000’s.

You must remove U16 along with the Varta battery on a 1270 board. See attachment. You can clip it out with side cutters if you’d like.

That’s not a 1270. That’s a 502 or a 504 board. Disregard the information about u16.

I am SO SORRY, I was looking at old threads to identify the board. Sorry for wasting your time on this. I’m now labeling each board as I go, so I know what I agave, THANK YOU.
