S2000 reels spinning slowly and 'paper out' error message
« on: January 03, 2022, 04:13:35 PM »
Hey everyone, its been awhile since I've been here. You guys helped me once before hopefully you can help again. I bought a IGT s2000 for my Grandpa a few years back. He called me and said its acting up. He is telling me the reels are constantly spinning slowly and there's a message saying printer out of paper.  He told me there is paper in the tray so its not out of paper. Hes tried restarting the game numerous times and its always the same thing.(machine is turned off now) I really dont know what to tell him so if anyone has any ideas that would help out big time

I’m pretty new here still but I can throw some ideas out there.

Are there any other messages on the VFD screen on the bottom left side of the reels?

The slow spinning reels sounds like a tilt. Have you tried to use the attendant key on the side of the machine? If you turn the key with the door open, it will stop a tilt. If that’s the problem. A tilt error message will be displayed on the VFD screen. Tilts can be caused by many things, but can be as simple as the reel rubbing on something as it tried to spin.

Is the paper properly fed into the ticket printer? It can only go one way. Also, Sometimes after you load the paper you need to clear the error messages by opening and closing the door a few times.

Hope this helps.
-Robert

Paper out would not stop them machine from working. Most likely you have some sort of failure within the netplex bus which controls reels, validator, and printer amongst other things. I would be begin by disconnecting the printer and the bill validator to see if the machine powers up without the reels spinning slowly.  If it does, power down, put back validator to see if it powers up correctly. If it is still does, then there's probably something wrong with the printer, you can plug it back in to see if maybe something was just loose as well.

NOTE:  ALWAYS power off machine when plugging or un-plugging components.  Serious damage can occur if you don't.

Thanks rickhunter and DB26. I asked him to open the door an turn the attendant key, he called me today and said that it fixed his machine problems so everything is working on his game now(for now). Thanks a bunch
