S2000 “No disp”

OMG, what next, I had the lights out on my “big Times” bonus reel S2000 bill validator. So simple, I had a LED style board, installed it, Now I turn on machine, VFD shows “Displays NETPLEX link is down”, then “Display passes self test”. Machine goes through a reel spin, then on LED Display shows “No disp”, and 64 in credits window & 2 in Total bet. So I took it apart and found a couple pinched wires that go to the bill illumination. They were smashed under the coin bracket and fastening brackets. I traced them still had continuity. So I proceeded to swap out VFD Display, LED display #1921B I/0 card, Power Supply and went back cut smashed wires and recrimped them. I’m at a totally exhausted Loss. Please Send me some more of Your excellent Knowledge. Thank You. I also noticed the bill validator gives a little grunt of excitement, then nothing but the flashing “No disp”. Thanks to All.

The "No Disp" issue is caused by a fault in the netplex circuit. This has been covered numerous times. BV, printer and the VFD are all netplex items. Unplug one at a time to see if the error goes away. Do not forget rule #1. Power down before disconnecting or reconnecting devices but you can get by with just sliding out the BV while it is hot. That is where I would start since you stated it make a grunt but I assume it isn't completing it's normal cycle.

Thank You RB, sometimes when things like this happen, I get overwhelmed at the issue that I found wrong, instead of paying attention to what the machine is trying to inform me of. I will Start that process and Post my outcome. Right there is a Fantastic Confidence booster in troubleshooting the CORRECT area.
