I don't know about this bill system setup, however I am so grateful that this V5500 didn't take much to bring it back to life. I have all of the V5500 paperwork, the accessories, I upgraded to the LED, a new battery, cleared the memory, cleaned the motherboard, put in locks, and poof its a sweet running V5500 machine. Nothing was wrong with the machine it's like perfect.

And yes I have a ESD strap. 👍

Like Sunrise stated. I thought 044 protocol was Bally and 023 was IGT?

Thanks for responding. Nice to see someone is reading my posts on getting this V5500 functioning. I use the posts as a reference if I need to go back on something that I need to look at on the V5500. All I work on is the electrical mechanical Bally slot machines.

I have a note to K-LAR and I will let them figure it out.

So, the V5500 is working excellent. A rundown of what happened.
I was able to purchase it "reasonably" under $150.00, after I did some serious research before I purchased it.
Once I purchased the V5500, I ordered a battery box, a battery, two LED lights, several locks, Molex connectors for the LED retrofit, different bulbs, a few bags of quarters, ESD leash, U10 chip,
I installed a battery box, battery, cleared the motherboard with the U10 chip, afterwards the screen was wanky. I cleaned up the motherboard, and cleared the motherboard again with the U10 chip and this time it worked perfectly.
I rewired the lights for the LED using Molex connectors, making it look 100% factory, both lights are working excellent.
The ACE locks were missing from the V5500, I rekeyed all of them the same and restored the locks throughout the V5500. The door lock was changed to a ABLOY, that was keyed to the rest of the slot machines I own.
The only light that was burned out was the candle, and I replaced it.
The V5500 was exceptionally clean, the owner had documents, everything, it's a complete V5500. When the owner purchased it from PDS Gaming, in Las Vegas, dealer in 2001 he paid 1,300.00 approximately. The dealer received the V5500 from Primm Valley Resort and Casino.

Regarding the Bill Validator, I was unable to upgrade the DBV-200 from K-LAR that I purchased for $140.00. I don't want to try and make it work creating a mess that can't be undone. For now, I will leave the original V5500, DBV-45 Bill Validator in the machine.
Many thanks to K-LAR for the help to get the V5500 up and running with the U10 chip and the cleaning recommendations.

I located a functioning, DBV-200 SH Bill Validator. Good thing is the wiring is the same, making life easy peasy.

Today I received the DBV-200 SH bill validator and it's awesome!, well packaged, and it looks great. I had a few hiccups, but that was my fault. The wiring was the issue, however Tim, from Sunrise Side gave me a bit of help.

This works excellent, everything is running perfect, the money stacker, it's just great. The unit takes all of the newer common US bills, It fits perfectly in the V5500.

Well, well, well. The V5500 died, and I contacted Tim who pointed me in the right direction. Thanks for putting up with me Tim.

The power is the problem, after sitting for a long, long, time and being built in 1995 it took a 💩. So I researched the part I needed and ordered it, #PT-65B.

I had only one single wire cut in this machine. Normally I would have put in a new wire exactly like the old one, however since I didn't want to FUBAR the V5500 in any way, so I soldered and shrink wrapped it.
