Well, this is officially my first post here.  Great site.  Thank you Channelmanic  :applause: for pointing me to this site from KLOV.  Im an arcade guy, but love variety, as I love a variety with women too :)

So, I purchased and received a working VERY minty  IGT S2000 Wild Thing slot.  PICS ATTACHED, as well as error messages.

When I received it, and started it there were a number of issues and concerns:

1. Cant find a manual for this sucker anywhere, does anyone have one?

2. VERY STRANGE, every time I turn the slot on he it emits a terrible chemical plastic smell.  I look in the machine, cant find any smoke, burning, nothing.  WTF is causing that??  It gives a headache almost instantly

3. The center reel artwork has come apart at the seam where the double sided tape is.  What is the correct type of double sided tape to fix it, and where can you get it?

4. Noticed the 3 reel artworks could use a slight cleaning.  Is there anything specific on how to clean the art on these?

5. Both the upper speakers continuously emit an annoying static noise from them, not a hum, but static.  They play all the sounds well, but that static is just outright annoying.  How can this be fixed?  Board upgrades, repair?

6. The sub-woofer speaker is not hooked up, actually missing the harness to hook it up.  Where can you buy this harness, and where in the machine do you connect it to?

7. The current JCM WBA 13 bill acceptor only accepts old US bills.  What do I need to do and buy to convert it to accept new and old Canadian bills?

8. This morning I turned the machine on and I got an error message "DOOR OPEN M" and "Bill Validator Error", which I fixed by turning the machine off, pulling the cash box out, and firmly pushing it back in, then turning the machine back on.  But then..........this morning in the middle of play, the following two messages started "General Reel Tilt" and "CALL ATTENDANT", and the the center reel and far right reel just kept spinning slowly.  I turn the slot off and then back on only to see the same two messages, and now all three reels spin slowly and continuously.

9.  The bottom light on the candle no matter what is continuously flashing, how do I correct that and why is that happening?

Yes, sorry, tons of questions on my FIRST post ever.  I guess as a newbie this would be expected.

Thank you to everyone in advance to helps me out here.

To clear the reel tilt, with the machine on and reels spinning slowly, open the door and turn the jackpot reset key (little brass one that goes in lock on handle side of cabinet) one time. Close the door and machine will reset and be ready to play.

Welcome!  That's one of the marquis S2000 themes, but hopefully whoever sold it to you disclosed the condition before they shipped it to you.  I'd be pissed if I received a machine like this.  Perhaps the agreement was that it wouldn't be shopped.  Anyway, I digress.

Be ultra careful about cleaning those strips as replacements are near impossible to find anymore.  Some strips are washable and others are not, meaning, the symbols will wipe right off with paper towel and water.  Search the forums...I think there is a sticky topic that covers cleaning strips.

No worries, we'll get your machine going.

Thank you for the welcome Jason.  Happy to be here.

So its one of the marquis S2000 slots, cool.  I guess I got a good first slot.  Just out of curiosity, whats it worth, assuming there are no issues as described? lol

The gentleman in TX sold it to me as working with no issues.  He was super nice, and as you can see packed it exceptionally well for safe shipping.  I am not sure he meant to sell me a lemon.  Maybe it happened along the long way from TX to Toronto, Canada.  It was part of his personal collection.  Truly this thing is immaculate, the outside, artwork, and chrome are flawless.

LOL, other than the outside, all the problems are killing me.

Looking forward to working with you Jason to help me through all this.

How shall we begin?

Based on the issues you're having ; I'd hardly call your machine a lemon.  Your machine was shipped and having several boards, harnesses, etc... it is common for them to come loose in transit. Thoroughly go through the machine ( bottom , door, and top .... take off top glass).   Make sure all wiring and boards are secure.  Also check for loose tokens or quarters in lower section of machine.   You can use Scotch double-sided tape ( available at Walmart, Walgreens, CVS, etc)  to tape the 2nd reel .   The loose 2nd reel strip might have been the cause of the reel tilt ( slow moving reel).    BV stacker error can occur when you don't put the cash can back i firmly....    Your issues are actually quite minor and with a little practice and playing time you'll easily know what the errors are and what to do.   Good luck.

Well thats fantastic news.  It answers some of my questions very well, but a number of others still outstanding.  Mainly, the speaker static noise, and the terrible chemical plastic smell when the game is turned on.  The second one is what worries me most.  I cant figure out where the burning plastic smell is coming from.  The smell fills the whole floor in no time when the game is turned on.  Gives everyone a headache, and when you look inside the slot, nothing seems wrong.  STRANGE.

Also, the sub-woofer, where can I get the specific harness, and how and which pcb to hook it in.

This is surely fun.  Arcades and slots cross over well, and make for a great combination in the game room.

The smell could possibly be from some sort of cleaner they used that maybe was sprayed on the fan.  Locate the top box fan  and the lower fan.... unplug them and then turn the machine on.... If there is no smell; then that's the problem.... Clean the fans and surrounding areas.

Yeah, did all that, and the burning plastic chemical smell still keeps coming when the game is on.  Plus the inside of the machine is SUPER clean.  Its really strange.

Time to put your nose to work.... Leave the machine on... open the door and sniff around......DO NOT remove any boards with the machine on...  You can pull out the hopper for more headroom.....   Then remove the reels and smell the power supply  ; it's the big silver box behind the reels.

I/O's reek when the fry  . I have had an I/O smell up my house after I put the wrong bulb in the denom window, yet the I/O still works to this day.

There's an I/O on the inside panel of the door, and a I/O on the side of the MPU. Take a whiff near there.

-The hiss noise from the speakers is well documented. It's the MPU you have (most likely 99.9%), check your MPU # and you will know. A 502 along with a simm is quite annoying while in a home environment, a 504b has much less hisssssing, and an enhanced 1270 is basically silent. Let us know what you have

1. Cant find a manual for this sucker anywhere, does anyone have one?

9.  The bottom light on the candle no matter what is continuously flashing, how do I correct that and why is that happening?

 :agreepost:

1.  This is a casino machine, there are no "user guides."  You will find service and repair manuals in the download section.

6.  Take a photo with the tray removed in in the bottom part of your machine.  There are two different types of connectors used to connect the sub-woofer, we need to identify which one you have.  Also take a picture of the back of the tray where the speaker is, it should have some sort of molex connector.

7.  You need to know for sure that you have a WBA13.  The only way to tell, is to pull out the validator, turn it upside down and look at the PCB on the bottom.  If it has an eprom (a removable chip on a socket) then you have a WBA13.  If you have s surface mount flash chip, you have a WBA12.  Then to use canadian money, you will need to:
a.  Get a wba23 head (your transport can be used provided you can get the canadian software, a chip if it is an wba13, you need to send it to someone to flash if it is a 12).
b.  Get a wider duckbill to accomodate the width of the canadian currency. (they are 3mm wider, which may or may not work).
c.  Get a wider bezel that will allow the currency to go in correctly.

9. There is an option in the settings menu for a door drop.  It is probably enabled.  You need to disable it.

As Harvys mentioned check your I/Os. I had run into that before. They do smell nasty if some component fried.

Ok, so went through the whole slot tonight.  Solved one of the major mysteries, the burning plastic smell......It was the FAN at the top that was defective.  Super hot and stank.  Have to find a proper replacement fan now, any suggestions on where to get one?

Also, found out I have a WBA-12-SS bill acceptor and validator.  I would like to upgrade to the JCM WBA-23 (as rickhunter stated) already with the programmed chip for Canadian dollars, and correct parts to fit the larger bills.  Can anyone point me to a person or site that has exactly what I need?

Speakers still have that constant static.  Dont know what to do there.

I have attached pictures of the sub-woofer and the molex connector.  Where can I get the harness for it, and where in the slot does the other side connect.  I attached pictures of the rest of the inside of the slot as well.

There is now a new error message.  "Bill Validator Comm Error"  I plugged it all back in the same way. Hmmm

Sure seems like a lot of problems came with the machine that was described as very minty. Maybe they were referring to the cabinet. Luckily most are small issues that can be taken care of one step at a time. Just curious did you purchase this from a company or private individual?
