hopper jamed
« on: January 04, 2015, 06:43:14 PM »
Thanks for all your help you guys Your awesome,  I now have a new problem my hopper keeps getting jammed. I put all new nickels in it and it looks like the new nickels are thinner. I find 2 stacked on top of each other and jamming. I see some screws with springs on the hopper. Looks like an adjustment for the hopper but I am not sure. Can some one help me. Thanks

Actually check the hopper knife. The metal thing that looks like a left finger pointing down. Sorry it's the best I could think of. You may have to pull the hopper and adjust it (the knife) down, or I had to remove it and tweak it because coins got underneath and bent it outwards. Take your time and get it as close to the wheel as possible and down as far as it will go. Those nickles need to run over the top so get it real close. Good luck.

Also to the left of the knife is a slide (because I don't know what it's called). If coins go far enough underneath, (the knife) they can lodge under the slide and bend it out. You may need to remove it and reform it to original shape. I had to take a file to one and smooth it out so coins would slide across it. Then shape it with a small hammer on the vise. Take your time and hand test it with coins. You'll get it to working. Good Luck.

All of my hoppers have plastic coin knives... but if the tip is broken off it will cause jams too.

All my IGT hoppers have a plastic knife as well. Be sure it is flush against the pin wheel & the shelf wheel. If it is warped or damaged, replace it. Also be sure the guide circled is tight enough not to allow 2 coins to pass thru. It should not be extremely tight but slightly snug against 1 coin. It is adjustable by loosening the 2 screws on top.

You guys are correct. My bad. The hopper on my bench isn't out of an IGT. I checked my machines and they also have plastic. Sorry I told you wrong lucky.  :duh:
