S9000 Alpha Set up for Dummies
« on: November 26, 2015, 01:22:34 PM »
Would anyone have a step by step set up procedure for a Bally Alpha? I seem to miss something every time and then can't go back and change it. As I said instructions for Dummies!
I've looked everywhere I can think of on the sight and followed the Bally procedure but it seam's generic and is different than my machine. I have a Diamond Peak.
Thanks
Bob

I've used coolwavepic's YouTube video several times.
If you don't have a quick hits just ignore the progressive.

Hi
Do I follow the same directions and just skip the part about progressive or do I have to set up the progressive?

When setting up you have the option of enabling the progressive or not, so just don't enable it, as long as your game is not progressive epuiped.
I think that if you don't have a progressive then you may be able to turn on multi denomination too.

L = LOGIC DOOR OPEN  These are on the left and right side of the MPU box.  One switched is close by the lock on the left side of MPU box and the other is closed by the lock on the door where the compact flash cards are located.  Both can be closed with wire ties or the best way is to short  the wires going from these switches to the MPU board.  YOu can cut the wires going into the MPU board plug, strip them, and short them and put a wire nut on them.  Picture of socket on MPU board that must be shorted is attached (circled)  This is where the Logic switches are plugged into MPU

Seems like every problem I fix another arises!  I shorted the two switch wires together and that cured the open door problem. Now it loads to the bally screen and I get a call attendant, On the attendant screen I get a list of things I fixed and a pending status. Also the reels have a jitter to them. Mostly the center one

Any ideas where to go from here?

If they are listed on the screen then they are not fixed.  Posting a picture of what the screen says will allow others to see what the problem(s) are. There are a lot of alpha experts who can help but post a picture.

This is the attendant menu that you get with a key flick.  Open the slot door and press the little white button on the front of the MPU to bring up the setup menu. It will list problems in more detail.

OK  Check to see if reels are plugged in on the backplane.  You may have problems with the backplane itself but I would unplug and plug in the reel harness again.  If this doesn't work then I would think you have problems with the reel board itself and something is not plugged in the board.  Many times things get unplugged at the casino when these slots are taken out of service.  You need to fix the hardware problem first on this.

I would suggest you take a good look at coolwavepic's video on setting this slot up.  He does an excellent job telling how to set one of these up. Attached is the only pics I have of the reel control board with connections (right side audio connectors don't show in the pic).  It is located behind the reels so you have to remove the reels to access this board.  You may not have all three harnesses if you don't have backlit reels.

Thanks I will start over tomorrow, sometimes walking away for a while helps. The reel problem is new, I did not have that when I started. Do you have a picture of the front of the mpu and the cables attached to it? All the wires were removed when I got the machine so anything is possible.

Thanks for your help!

I am late to all this as for the last week and half been living in and out of hospital for my dad.  He is still there.  The reels are marked 1-X and must go back in the correct slots. I understand from reading you got these as-is so-ok.  Also you are Not setting the game up properly. disable multi-denom and just use the penny for the credit. I also understand you are a newbie to these so-baby steps.  As more here get these for just steals then go to mess with them-hence the questions.  I had spent two years yaking about all this via -here,texts,calls etc. from stuff from another mother. As a note * The reels when you have them out-look at the pins on the back and look for ones that are pushed in not fully extended from the other, Very problamatic thing with those esp. with them being removed and installed alot without the correct carress with them.

Last note to this from your last pic. As I stated you do not have anything set up correctly I think that is one of your biggest problems.  Hopefully you have the correct clear and are performing the operations correctly. The info is here.  You will get all that when nothing is set up correctly. Check your battery voltages also.  Gotta go, Will try to chk. back in a day or two as time allows.  And I gathered you got 4 of these so you have been mixing up stuff to trouble-shoot.
