Don't know what D9 is or does. The schematics don't tell you what each component does? If not then, I'd say just replace the burnt component, and hope for the best. I couldn't tell you if D9 is needed or not for the game to play.

Is the game all back together now? And what happens at start-up? Darrell said he has a couple of EVO CDR if you end up needing one. They will not open if you they are out of the machine (not powered). We use a straightened out paper clip to open them, just to verify the CD is actually in there.

EVO kits are not everyday finds, so lets hope all the software is there. These are fun games, basically their the Bally version of the I-Game. We've had Felix the Cat, Harvey Kormans Last Resort, 99 Bottles of Beer, Sunset Beach, and some luau one.

I can't replace the diode because it's burned in half. I just need someone to look at their bally evo mpu at the D9 diode... top left corner. The value should be written on it. MY parts store closes soon!
There's no power going to the CDR... at start up. The LED light on the MPU for +12vdc is out.

Oh! You are trying to ID D9! Let me go downstairs and get a pic if I can. I'm not sure if we have any boards here or not. Stay tuned...

Thank you! I just called... you can ignore that! It should just be written right on top of D9.

Okay I'm home from work. Ready to take the D9 challenge and hope it was just the part and not something else! Should I just solder in the new one on and flip the switch?  :hyper:

UPDATE (if anyone's still out here...)
Replaced D9, powered up... got the +12vdc light back on! But my newly installed CDR wouldn't power up! Pulled it back out, put back the old one and it powers up, but still won't work... the CD won't load. I took it back out and just compared the two... the original is a DVD... the replacement I bought is just a CDR. Uh oh...

Mark--Any DVD player should work in these.  I have substituted them before and all operated OK. Are you getting anything on the screen at all on this??  All the LED's should light up on the game board.  I have a suggestion.  Try to CLEAR the machine and see what happens.  The machine doesn't use the DVD to do a clear and it should go through the CLEAR process.  Make sure both the batteries on the game board and the suitcase board are good also before you do this.  Machine will not CLEAR unless they are.

Thank you... I didn't even know there were batteries on the suitcase board. I need to look closer. I think the drive I got from Goodwill is just a bad one... the original does power up but the replacement won't even power on.
Thanks... I'll do some more troubleshooting today. I hope the goodwill store is open! Otherwise I'm stealing the DVD out of my desktop!
