BB2E - Call Attendant w/ no error
« on: April 20, 2024, 01:28:09 PM »
After booting I get game logo on the top screen and call attendant on the bottom.
Turning the key shows an nvraml ow battery error (Had this since I got the machine 2 years ago - just havn't gone looking for the battery to assume it's a coin style cr battery somewhere?)
Anyhoo - no other error is displayed.  Opening the cabinet  displays 'closureVBMS' in the right corner - bill validator has a green light.
Close it up, it does a ram check, and goes back to call attendant, key and no error message beyond low battery.
I've gone through the diagnostic menus, and don't see anything out of order.
In the past I've always just kept rebooting (arrrg takes forever) and it seems to eventually work, but I'd love to get this nailed down and figure out how do i get a meaningful error message of what I need to correct.

I love my slot, but I sledom swap games on it becuase it can lead to what I feel is a week long session on reboots until it finally decides to behave - so I just leave the same game in it all the time and hope a storm doesn't come through and cuase it to reboot, or someone doesn't inadvertantly power cycle it from the smart power strip, etc

You're syaing for the last 2 years you have a low battery error??

Change the batter in the MPU and or backplane. Ram Clear. Re-setup the game.

Thank you,  I replace both the batteries behind the cpu door (they were side by side mounted vertically!  I overlooked them several times scanning for horizontal placements!).  Seemed to do the trick!

So I am assuming you get a battery warning and everything can continue to operate until such time that the batteries won't hold nvram between boots?

Sometimes you will get the error on a call attendant screen about the batteries and will clear itself  upon reboot depending on battery level.  When the battery is really dead, the NVRAM will get corrupted and the game will not even get to the WMS logo as the game loads and the system will halt.  Anytime you get an NVRAM battery low error, you should replace the batteries clear and setup.
