Bally 5500 DBV-200 upgrade not working right

I've got a Bally 5500 that had an old DBV-200 validator installed that wouldn't work at all. Replaced it with a new one that supposedly has the upgrade to allow it to accept the new bills. It will accept a $1 and a new $20, but not a $5, $10, or $50. I've checked all the settings and DIP switches that I know of and as far as I can tell, the settings are correct. Any suggestions on what could be the problem? Could it be a problem with the upgrade chip/software? Seems like it should work for all bills since it will take the new $20 bill.

try different bills in real good shape,could also need a good cleaning,also try feeding them all 4 ways ,might take it that way,

Tried all sorts of bills in different conditions and in different ways. Sucks them all in, but spits out 5, 10, 50. Haven't tried the $100 yet. Could need cleaning I guess, but wouldn't it being dirty affect all bills? IDK for sure. Also, should we do a Safe RAM clear after installing the new DBV? Could that be a part of the problem?

not sure i have the same thing dv 200 with canadian currency cip, at first it would not take no bills ,cleaned it up ,then it was taken some and not others, then it started to take all the time,after a few days, it kind of got smarter with the more bills i put in , now i only have a problem with wrinkle bills,but it is working perfect on real good shape bills, the chip would not take new canadian tens that was told to me ahead of time but takes al the rest, 5s older 10s ,20s 50s 100s, you could try reset it again ,just do partial clear, mine is the 6000 + the 5500 models only take the old canadian currency from way back,hard to even find those bills, no update to take newer canadian currency until you get the 6000+.

i have for the 6000 + will not work for the 5500 model,i wish it would ,i have 3 of them,

 I believe your problem is the software. The 2.40-05 is older software. I think they added the newer $10 at ver. 2.51. My DB-V200 in my Gamemaker is 2.70-05. It takes the newer bills except the $100. Haven't tried the $50 since I do not have one here right now.

Is 2.7 the newest version?

That is the latest that I have seen. Maybe someone else can confirm.

2.40 was made when the new $20 came out, it would not take the new 5 or 10's, 2.71 sometimes, will take a old $100 but the bill has to be crisp and new.

So to take all bills except 100’s, we need 2.71. OK got it. Thanks again for the help.

Any suggestions on where I can get one of the 2.71 chips?

It depends on what kind of 200 head you have.
Some have a EPROM chip plugged into the bottom, others have to be flash programmed by downloading the software into a RAM chip.
Either way it is recommended a calibration be done after software is changed.
