Double Easy Money
« on: November 18, 2020, 09:24:13 PM »
Picked this one up cheap locally last night.   This is my first WMS reel machine all my other BBs and 550s are touchscreen.   Will need some advice on the wheel assemblies and how to remove them.   I thought I had the Reel owners or repair manual cant seem to find it, is there a link to a digital copy or does anyone have one to share?

The guy i bought it from said it needed to be "reprogrammed or something".  first run thru i noticed it was missing a battery and one installed was dead.  replaced them but it seems that the power supply is dead.  Ill post a second pic of the CPU and backplane def missing some voltages.  No life on the small LCD, DBV, fans etc., just lights and the ticket printer.     Going to swap a power unit from another BB and see what i can get going here, wouldn't be surprised if it will need a few more things.   Ill need to remove the reel assemblies and get in behind and above them.  The sound system wires are hanging down, they were duct taped up,  the black sticky residue from the coatings ahs smeared up a couple of the wheel strips.

I did open up the power supply there seems to a couple damaged components in there, i haven't looked much on here to see if there's any repair threads or posts for these units.

Curious what you all do for that lingering odor of stale smoke and now pot smoke on these machines?

Seems like you only have the 24 volts going. The ATX power supply is either not plugged in to power, or is just bad all around.

It appears dead to me.  Opened it up, the ceramic resistor has a lead that looks like it shorted on the metal case, I’m not sure if the part is shot.  Also see a diode that seem blown or damage from overheating     I’ll see if I can get parts and repair.  At same time I’ll see if I can pickup a replacement power supply.  I’ll post on classifieds.  If anyone see this and has one let me know.    When I do repair this, I’ll document and photo it to post, maybe someone will find it useful

I need help and opinions.  It definitely was power supply, I threw in a working unit and it powers up.  I have flash a new clear card and run that.   My questions since this is my first wms reel machine, when power up the 5 reels a very slowly edging around, you can hear the motor sound as it’s going.   Not fast at all maybe a 1/8 inch at a time.  It runs it diagnostic on small lcd , validates the images on the cards, but eventual ends with incorrect module parameters.   Again I haven’t yet cleared it, was more concerned if the reels turning like that is ok

wanted to add a few more pics here, still getting an error after ram clear.   input/output error, did notice 2 wires on the DBV molex pulled out, looking for a pinout or pic if anyone has one of which wire goes where, there's a brown and black in between the slots where these would go.  also curious about the bump out on the door, there's a connector hanging but nothing plugged in,

to clarify the DBV molex is on that connects into the back of the main housing that the transport slides into and connects.

Just get a new bv harness, not worth repairing.  The error during boot is because you haven't cleared, there's an issue with NVRAM and that is why you need to clear, you should replace the mpu batteries while you are at it, before you clear.  The 5 pin plug is for power to lights behind the reel glass.  On my 5 reel machine, it is a fluorescent bulb and connects to a ballast that is behind the reels.  In your case it looks like it might be LED based?  If so there should be 5v power cable attached to the back of the SPN LMP Matrix board to the left side of reels.  There are two molex connectors, both can supply power.  I see you have one already connected to power the LED digits, there might be another one that is just loose, if not, the machine will operate without it being plugged in, it is just a backlight for the glass graphics.
