IGT S + start up questions
« on: November 08, 2015, 06:17:51 PM »
trying to repair a double diamond, i think i'm almost there.  it had a dead battery. replaced and used the clear ram chip. had a bit of trouble getting past 61-1 by using the reset key, but it finally did.  played a few coins, and won 5 credits. hit the cash out button, no coins, and 3300 error.  had plenty of coins in the hopper.  i took  out the hopper, the knife wasnt close enough to the wheel, now fixed, and hopper now spits out coins on my bench.  i havent installed it yet in the game.

now the questions:  when it unit boots up , is part of the sequence to run the hopper?  i'm not sure i heard it run. i am thinking the only way the unit " knows" the hopper is empty is when it doesnt send a coin past the hopper optic on  a payout ? otherwise an empty hopper would boot normally and play normally until its time for a payout? should i hear it run when it boots?

is there a way to clear a 3300 code, other than filling the hopper and letting it count down the coins? what if there is a big payout? i cant imagine feeding coins to it till they all go thru.  is like to try to reset it and then try everything again.

hope ive been clear in my descriptions. its a friend machine. i also one one that has never given me problems. i'd like to empty my hopper and create the 3300 to see how to clear it before i go over my friends, which is a bit of a drive. i want to also test his hopper in my game.

also, how to those door sensors work, and is there a wat to test them?

thanks all
mike

The hopper does not run when you power up.  So can run an S+ with no coins without issues unless you try to cash out.  The empty hopper error occurs when the hopper runs for a while and there are no coins passing through the coin out optics.  There is no way to to clear a 3300 error without feeding coins or doing a clear.

when you say doing a clear, you mean pulling the cpu and using the ram clear chip? no way to clear with the test button or reset key? how does an attendant clear a large payout? is that only when a payout exceeds the preset limit?

thanks

yes, clear chip.  In the casino's the machine pays up 300 coins ususally, if i goes over 300 coins, the machine goes into handpay mode, that you clear using the jackpot reset key, but if it is a pay that it is meant to be paid by hopper, then no other way to clear credits other than letting the hopper dispense the coins, or performing a ram clear.  You could also swap out the SS reel with a different one, and the game will re-initialize and clear the credits,  then put the old ss chip back.

If you are a contributing member there is access to the downloads section with manuals.
If you are using tokens and have a low number of them or just don't want to put 600 quarters into the machine as a float then you can change the hopper to have a max pay out as low as 1 before going into hand pay mode. Alternatively some people will pull the wire from their cash/credit button so it can't accidently be hit. Then the only time it will go to a hand pay is when you hit one of the jackpots.
If you can't afford to lose you can't afford to win.

I don't remember exactly how I did it but.. can't you initiate a hopper payout test where it spits out two coins and then resets the 3300?

A 3200 hopper error will clear by pressing the white setup button and closing the door.
No coins will come out unless they fall off the end of a bad knife or your hopper brake is bad.

A 3300 occurs because you ran out of coins. Filler up.

The only way to get it out of the sequence is to hit the hopper limit.
Limits can't be changed unless you at 0 credits.
Or
Do a clear with a clear chip.

I would prefer to refill the hopper

Wow! THAT is one special machine! haha!  :rotfl:

Just joking around but two coins probably just fell out when you shook the door because
an S+ hopper test spits out only 10 coins at a time.  :Scratch-Head:

One coin could possibly have been sitting on the edge of the hopper knife blocking the hopper optic sensor while the other coin could have fell out from the door - dislodged from the plain act of opening the door.

Please forgive me for being a total newb but, that was literally the day I brought it home and first powered it up.  I had the hopper empty error code, put what I had in my pocket into it and power cycled (iirc?).  I heard the hopper motor spin and then it threw another 3XXX code.  I put the coins back in, it paid a few more and then everything worked as it should.

The guys were just messing with you. Don't sweat it, all in good fun! Glad you got it going!

Typically, you need to keep 50-100 coins in the hopper, mid you can, as it will NEVER pay out every single last coin. It typically stops and throws the 3300 when it gets down to 15-20 coins.
