Bally Alpha 2 Pro V22/32 - Boot Screen Issue
« on: October 25, 2021, 02:08:37 AM »
I have the problem that sporadically my Bally Alpha 2 Pro V22/32 boots on the wrong monitor (in this case on the iDeck), most of the time it helps if I rewire everything and also reinsert the graphics card. Does anyone have an idea where to look, can this be the adapter from HDMI to DVI or rather the graphics card or possibly the monitor?

HDMI?  This does not sound like it's a standard monitor that comes with a 22/32.
If it ain't broke don't mess with it.....

The upper monitor (32“) already occupies a dvi port and therefore it needs a hdmi to dvi adapter in my opinion. But I have no idea, he was delivered to me so from a dealer from the US.

Maybe you mean DP to DVI instead of HDMI.  The standard video cards are DP and DVI.  A photo of what you have would help.

Oh yes, sorry it’s DP

On a 22/32 the bottom monitor is connected to the DVI port on the video card and the top monitor is connected to the DP port using the converter.  Is that the way you have it connected?

Yes, the bottom is connected do the DVI and the Top with the DP to DVI Adapter.

OK, sounds good.   If the boot appears to be on the ideck, I would try a different DVI cable since it not sensing the bottom monitor being connected.

Ok, I’ll change the dvi cable from the bottom Monitor.

Also, you can try a DVI to VGA convertor if the bottom monitor has a VGA port.  Another option too is DP to DP if your monitor has a DP port on it.  Some of the newer monitors came with all 3 type connections.  You would have to clear the machine though when making these changes.  Might be a good idea to do it anyway.

I will add that I had a similar issue and turned out to be the A/D card inside the main monitor.  Recapping it fixed the issue.  Changing the cable is an easier thing to try first though.
